I was laid off from Ameritech in 2003. There was a huge lay off there and people got a walk up to their desk and were told to leave. It was pretty bad. I was let go because I was only there for 2 years and didn't get much of a chance to show my skills capabilities. Everyday people wondered if it would be their last day. I knew it was coming so I wasn't to surprised.

Two weeks late Fuzo got layed off from the airlines. So there we were, both unemployed and then I found out I was pregnant with twins from a successful IVF, finally!!! In the end, all turned out very good for us.

I know layoffs are happening right now strictly for financial reasons. Why lay-off a guy that's fully vested that'll take more money when he goes than his salary over the next 10yrs. You don't, if you're thinking money. You lay-off the shortest timers you can. Especially if they aren't vested and some thinning out must be done. no brainer. Doesn't matter who has skills and who doesn't. What's gonna cost more right now? pretty sad story that's being told all over right now, unfortunately. very unfortunate!
