Thank you for your prayers everyone. My father had surgery on Wednesday, and they removed a 10 inch piece of his colon. It was lined with tumors. As of today, Saturday morning at 9:30am, there is a strong possibility he may get released today!! My pops has exceeded the Doctors expectations!! Since we're talking about the colon, it's nasty, but I'll try to keep it clean:
The Doctor said normal colon function starts to come back by the 4th post op date in most situations. Then, he puts you on solid food, waits for a good solid poo to come out, then you're discharged. In my dad's case, he's going on solid food this morning for breakfast. If he poos by this afternoon, he's checking out! We have to wait a few weeks to see if it spread to his lymph nodes, but we're staying positive on that. Before his surgery, I took him to the shrine of Padre Pio near where we live. This is solid proof that prayer is powerful!!
