This exposes your flawed premise but many Americans agree with you. This is a result of the idea that government can and should fix society ills and it can't and it is hypocritical and immoral for it to do so. The most logical answer is getting government out of the way - the government is a needless middleman when it comes to the economy. The government doesn't produce it can only take by force, so the government is dependent on production and can only redistribute resources to artificially manipulate industry - which normally has nothing to do with what politicians feel is "good" for our country but for their own wallets. Our government manipulates the markets by punishing and rewarding certain business'.

So what you have is the government looking at the most productive companies and industries and taking their resources, by force, to artificially prop up failing or stagnant companies or industries (mainly to benefit their lobbyists but they will justify as curing a society ill.) So government "action" is exactly what poisons the economy. A free market based on supply and demand keeps money where the demand is - government can only hinder take money from where the demand is and put it somewhere where they want more demand - which by it's very nature is in opposition to a thriving economy.

So when you say, people don't have answers - your wrong. It is just the answer is in contradiction to what you have been taught. The most government can do is get out of the people's way.

I can't think of one society that's spent itself into prosperity. Does this mean it absolutely can't work? In my opinion, no. How many failed attempts did we have at landing a man on the moon? We were successful? Yes, we were.

So again, I'll keep repeating this question. What alternative solutions do YOU have?...
      no brainer. end taxation.

There's the answer. And not a tax break on this or that...or you but not you...this business/not that one...this car is fine, but not that big one. That's all bullshyt. Remember when SUVs got big tax breaks (when the economy was rockin)?...end taxes. That's what will get the economy going again. If taxes weren't held out of my paycheck, my wife wouldn't have to work. But what does our government do? the exact oposite. It's not rocket surgery.

and if you really believe there is something in this bill that will stimulate the economy, you're just not paying attention. This bill is bad...very very bad. bill lmao...it is that.

if we end taxation, where do you propose we get the monies needed for roads, police, firemen, military etc?

I agree with a good part of your statement. However, I believe it's naive to think that the markets and mega corporations will self police.

I apologize for not being specific. That's taxes on income of any kind.

I never implied they would self-police. I'm saying if a private company feels the results of risky ventures instead of being able to pass potentially bad assets off to the tax payer they would not intentionally get involved in deals that would cost them profits. So there wouldn't be any incentive to making loans to people that couldn't pay it off. Fraud and corruption will always exist - there is no Utopian society but fraud and corruption escalate when individual rights are ignored in a society and trampled by politicians that make it legal to take from some citizens and give to others simply because lobbyist pay them to make fraud and corruption legal.

Wow. I just saw the banned status of fit2b. I'm going to have to go back and see what transprired here. Fuzo is a guy who has been more than kind to me and usually keeps my feet grounded. Lord knows he forgave my arse on several occasions for talking smack and didn't publicly chastise me, just privately pm'ed me and... well, you know. I wonder what happened?

                    Re: Thread Killer

I just saw the proposed stimulis(sp) package and have to wonder how giving me a working man $13 a payday and giving foodstamp recipiants 30% more is going to garner any support from me. If the majority of food stamp recipiants did away with with their beer cigs and jewelery they'de have enough money for food.Have you ever been in line behind someone with food stamps and watched them buy London broil and shrimp while you are buying hamburger cuz that all you could afford. I say forget bailing anyone out, let them fail and someone else start whatever business to fill the gap. Seize all the assets of the ****ers that did this and put them in county jails ,(using the Homeland security Act) as they are nothing but domestic terrorist. I'l stop this rant here as its Sunday and I don't wish to spoil the rest of my day being pissed that my Government is killing my country. J.R.

                        Re: Thread Killer

that "stimulous" bill is so rediculous it isn't even worth kicking around anymore. I can't believe what's become of the government. As McCain said the other day. If the republicans had've done things differently when they held the majority, we wouldn't be in this position where the democrats are making their dreams come true.

Obama said he was going to take care of the economy, and then he goes and gives the reins to the house to write up a spending bill. So what do they do? They put everything that they've ever wanted in it so irresponsibly. It sickening. And he could do as he preached in running, and truly work bipartisan for a solution. But those were just words in a speach that people believed. He's sure more than proving his leadership skills now. Way to go Obama. Write it up and I'll sign it. Don't work too hard Mr. President.
