Re: Best Presidents of All Time
This just shows you that Reagan made some good decisions during his presidency, which also had one of the worst enomoies since the Great Depression.
It is mind boggling to me why the Obama Administration are not implementing any of the things that Reagan did to get the economy moving again. What Reagan did obviously worked during that time period.Veritas Vos Liberabit

Re: Best Presidents of All Time
Of that list, I think all are worthy of consideration except Kennedy. What did he do anyway? He was popular, but only held office for 2 years before his assasination, during which he was embarassed by various scandals and a monumental failure in the Bay of Pigs. I think he should be replaced in this poll by Richard Nixon. Most people only remember the Watergate scandal, but Nixon was otherwise a very successful president, who accomplished a great many good things. Obama should take note.
Digressing . . . IMO, it is a shame that Obama has already spent nearly all of the momentum and political capital he gained from the election because of his arrogant demeanor. And I blame his advisors for not guiding him more effectively. He rightly believes that America wants a strong and forceful leader, but instead he appears (to me at least) to be an inflexible "dictator" of his personal political agenda. Even in his post-election speeches, he takes shots at the previous administration, declaring his own views the unquestionably necessary path for us - repeatedly citing his election as evidence. This position clearly reveals his inexperience in capitol hill politics.
Congrats on winning the election, but you must be crazy if you think the Congress and Senate are going to follow you orders blindly. Welcome to big-boy politics Barak. You have a lot to learn about governing within our system of checks and balances. Maybe no one told you, but the president does not legislate in this country. Maybe if you play nice, and lose the pompous attitude, you will yet accomplish something positive for your legacy (besides being popular and black). I hope you do tone it down, because although I did not vote for you, I do want you to succeed in leading our country to better days. Your vice president should point you to examine the successes of our past leaders, both Democratic and Republican.

Re: Best Presidents of All Time
Just based on Image, it would be Reagan, Kennedy, T. R., ...my personal favorite was gerald ford, mainly because he was always falling on his ass and shanking people with golf balls...Plus I liked that he lives in Vail/Beaver Creek, one of my favorite places in the whole world.

Re: Best Presidents of All Time
IMHO, I'd have to go with Franklin Roosevelt considering he's help pull the nation out of the Great Depression.
I think George W. Bush(whacker) would have to be considered the most embarrassing President in history. His speeches (a.k.a Noble Bloopers) sound like they were written by high school debate students.

Re: Best Presidents of All Time
After many Political Science classes and actually following him closely during his two term Presidency would be one of my heroes.....Ronald Reagan!!!!!!
What I would have given to just have to be able to sit down with him for 10 minutes.
I unlike many that WILL ADMIT it consider consider GHW Bush and G.W. Bush great Presidents that were dealt a bad hand. Anyone that disagree I welcome them to make their case and point.
God Bless Ronald Reagan!!!!!

Re: Best Presidents of All Time
I wouldn't consider either Bush a "great" president, but I do agree that they were the victims of circumstance, and unfortunately those circumstances have/will come to define their terms in office. It is not fair, but the public's uninformed perception is their final judgement.

Re: Best Presidents of All Time
Man I wish I could remember what these dudes were railing Reagan for. It was something similar...similar isn't the word, but...with the same...I don't want to say hate either, but Reagan's presidency was as currupt to these guys as you feel Bush's was pigmeat.
Imagine ole Abe's term. Talk about being hated. He caught one between the eyes. I mean he, Lincoln, comes in on some new party ticket, the southern states secede, civil war breaks out. It makes ya wonder how these guys, including Bush, even get elected. Especially Bush...for a second term! I'd like to see a chart 50 yrs from now though. Bush would probably be on it. But the world, then, won't share the hate that it does now for him. For some reason, the earth changing acts seem to over-shadow whatever it was that people seem to hate so darn much.
