In conjunction with the Home Depot thread, the news had referred to this past monday as "black monday" due to the amount of employee cuts by some major companies. You had Sprint, Pfizer (due to Wyeth acquisition), Home Depot, Caterpillar (probably the largest cut), Corning, Barnes and Noble etc. The list can go on and on. On top of this, Oracle had a silent layoff. Imagine trying to log into work and not having access. Talk about a pit in your stomach.
I really feel for the folks who have worked so hard for so long to have to lose their jobs on top of seeing their savings diminish.
