I'm doing marketing consulting on the side to help make ends meet.

My dad's account always suggest taking your hobby and find away to turn it into a home business. This way you can take the deductions for your taxes. Think about things you are really interested in. He gave examples like... you love to play tennis, so give tennis lessons. For awhile there my dad sold pool chemicals and help people when they needed their pool water cleaned up, etc. My SIL started doing flower arrangements fresh and faux for weddings, parties, etc. Another friend of my bakes cakes for special occasions, weddings, birthdays, etc.

My ex husband (when we were married) started selling and installing "hidden fences" from Dogwatch...

                  Re: Side Job

I have a small side biz that brings in some cash but is not real time consuming. Testing backflow prevention devices. The start up cost is about $600 for certification and $800 for equiptment, but I charge $65 to $75 each device and it takes from 10 to 15 minutes to test one. If I get multiple devices in the same area , thats about $200 a hour. I ussually try to keep it slow so I have time for everything else I do, but if I wanted to hit it head on I could probably make a living doing it. J.R.

Obama is going to take care of you now. Work extra? We are now in the age of taking from the haves to the have nots. Thank you for trying to get ahead on your own but it is no longer necessary.

Australia offers 'best job in world' on paradise island Mon Jan 12, 10:16 pm ET

SYDNEY (AFP) – An Australian state is offering internationally what it calls "the best job in the world" -- earning a top salary for lazing around a beautiful tropical island for six months.

The job pays 150,000 Australian dollars (105,000 US dollars) and includes free airfares from the winner's home country to Hamilton Island on the Great Barrier Reef, Queensland's state government announced on Tuesday.

In return, the "island caretaker" will be expected to stroll the white sands, snorkel the reef, take care of "a few minor tasks" -- and report to a global audience via weekly blogs, photo diaries and video updates.

The successful applicant, who will stay rent-free in a three-bedroom beach home complete with plunge pool and golf buggy, must be a good swimmer, excellent communicator and be able to speak and write English.

"They'll also have to talk to media from time to time about what they're doing so they can't be too shy and they'll have to love the sea, the sun, the outdoors," said acting state Premier Paul Lucas.

"The fact that they will be paid to explore the islands of the Great Barrier Reef, swim, snorkel and generally live the Queensland lifestyle makes this undoubtedly the best job in the world."

Lucas said the campaign was part of a drive to protect the state's 18 billion Australian dollar a year tourism industry during the tough economic climate caused by the global financial meltdown.

"Traditional tourism advertising just doesn't cut it sometimes and we are thinking outside the box by launching this campaign."

Queensland Tourism Minister Desley Boyle said some people might question whether it was risky to let an unknown person become an unofficial tourism spokesperson for the state.

"I think the biggest risk will be that the successful candidate won't want to go home at the end of the six months," she said.

"This is a legitimate job which is open to anyone and everyone."

Applications are open until February 22. Eleven shortlisted candidates will be flown to Hamilton Island in early May for the final selection process and the six month contract will commence on July 1.

                        Job-seekers can apply on .

                          Re: Side Job

^ I saw a thing about that Great Barrier Reef job on tv the other day.

If you live on commercially zoned property, you can get a (service) business license. For example landscaping, painting, etc... and incorporate it with a name that doesn't tie it to that service, or any particular thing/service for that matter. Then get yourself hooked up with distributers for whatever you would like to get into...electronics, car audio, diving equipment, etc...whatever floats your boat. Then, just as someone mentioned, jump on ebay, set up an account like a pro. Post the factory images with description of your merchandise, and your off and running. Once you figure out what you wanna sell. Check out the competition. After landing yourself a few distributers with your tax I.D.#/re-sell #, you will be able to find several items that you can post up and turn out like hotcakes for a profit. It might even be kinda fun.
The reason I say to do this through a service license is that is the least expensive occupational license to obtain. You should be able to get one for around $50. Then register your fictitious/ business name for another $50, and you're ready to rock. That is, you live in a commercially zoned spot. Even though you may be in a residential neighborhood, you can usually obtain a service occupational license. If all else fails, use a friend or family's address just for licensing purposes.

Just an idea for a legitimate means of making some side money online.

oh yeah. Don't forget to pay your taxes
                          Good Luck
