  • Rugby guys or athletes, need some help

    I have not been 100% in the gym lately having just moved recently and have never been good w cardio since I had surg a few years ago, but just decided to join a beginner rugby club team at school and needed to know some good routines/workouts to shape up and so that I am at least somewhat ready to walk into it. Never played on a team or any sports so Im not sure of what will benefit my goals more than others. I will probably be placed as a back if that makes any difference in your recommendations but I am not for sure. I was told by the coach to show up at practice and I would learn the game fast but i want to be up to par w the heartrate and stamina

    Plyometrics, good for power, speed, and agility. Foot quickness is important too so you should look up some drills. I used to run rope ladders. What kind of surgery? I tore my meniscus in my right knee doing deep squats, it didn't take long for me to bounce back. I was pretty much forced to.

        Has a doctor told you that your heart is stable enough to play a sport like rugby? I mean it's not really my business, but I figured I would ask. If your heart rhythms are still to fast and not pumping efficiently you will want to go with some low impact cardio at first, rather then plyometrics. IMO

          yes my cardiologist told me that as long as i feel ok to push forward
