I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I'm not talking about it being a choice when a person is going through a catastrophic event in their life but more on a regular day to day basis.
It seems every day you read the news things are just getting nuttier and I've decided there is nothing I can do except each day be grateful for that day.
Its a choice you make everyday when you get out of bed. You take the good with the bad and decide whether to let it break you or lift you up. Its hard to do but the happiness part is the better way to go. Happiness is catching. It has a trickle down effect. When momma is happy, the kids are happier and more productive. Keep your chin up girlfriend. Be grateful for the little things.
I was just saying that this morning.....about how stupid the world is getting. I don't understand why people keep doing things to hurt others. They either don't have any common sense or are just plain stupid. Sometimes they don't realize that what they do can affect others and they don't think things through. Yeah, we all make mistakes but I believe that happiness is a choice.
Be Yourself - An original is always worth more than a copy!;)
All you can take with you is that which you have given away.
I was depressed for a long time after I had my twins. I almost died, had a hysterectomy, and our finances were a mess. I wallowed in self pity for a long time and all it did was suck the joy out of my life. In this last year I did some counseling sessions to get perspective on a situation and I feel so much better.
I honestly believe it is a choice.
Now I do know some people and docs will say there can be a chemical imbalance that may cause symptoms of depression but I think it still comes down to choice.
If a person chooses to be happy then that mindfull decision can have a greater impact than most any other.
AND if a person were in a situation or position in life that were to be counter-productive to one's own happiness then it's simply a choice of staying ins such enviroment or not.
Again it's a choice.
I struggle greatly with such circumstances at this point in my life right now.
But I digress.
Bottom line is I think it all comes down to choice. If you choose to let something bother you then it does, if you choose not to - - then it doesnt'
I can choose to let others actions upset me emotionally or I can choose to not let it upset me - it's ultimately up to the individual.
Mind over matter, if you don't mind then it don't matter.
bingo...it's what you make of it. i've got plenty to be fuked up about, but i'm in a great mood 95% of the time. i look on the bright side as much as possible. i try to not only lighten my day, but others around me...even when i'd rather bury my head under the covers and go back to sleep!! i'm a clown....glass is ALMOST always half full. it's a decission i've chosen years ago! i dwell quickly, and get over it and move on
HE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!
its a choice in most instances. I used to get totally out of joint over politics and the stupid shit happening in this country...just before the election, i decided that I really couldnt control it, but I could control certain things in my life and decided to concentrate on things I could change. Making the world a better place in my little corner of the world is my main mission now...of course I still get irritated by ceos getting christmas bonuses from the bailout money and dum**** politicians commiting crimes..but its mostly entertainment now....LOL
