I can see where this is headed....

Our boss is MIA. This is the general manager/COO of the company. Let me back up and fill in some details... over a month ago he came in from a meeting the president & CEO of the company went into his office and started shredding papers. He was shredding everything in his office. We thought for sure he was out of here. Then we find out that our biggest competitor is trying to buy us out. We have been in limbo ever since waiting on the deal to go through. We've heard that it should be finalized by the end of the month.

Explain my boss is a micro-manager control-freak. He is insecure and runs this place by fear. If you think for your self, then eventually you get fired. It's damned if you do / damned if you don't. He has to tell me to do my job. If I don't do it until he says to do it, then I get in trouble. If I get ahead of him and do something, then I get in trouble for not asking his permission.

Director over me was my boss up until this piss-ass little sales rep stabbed the director in the back and got him fired. I've worked with this sales rep at a former company and he did not bring in one customer that was worth anything. They were all small companies that wouldn't pay their bills, so none of the other manufacturers would sell to them. The director brought in 6 million sales with in two years. My boss fired the director and made this sales rep VP of sales. To this day... 3 yrs that guy hasn't brought in any new business other than little customers that order by the pallet. We usually sell by the truckload.

My boss went on vacation last week. The owner of the company told us that we will hear something when our boss gets back if he will be staying with the company or not. Apparently he's got a very nice offer from the company taking-over but hasn't given them an answer yet. Personally, I would prefer if he didn't come back, but now this sales rep is acting like he's running the company.

We use butt heads all the time at the company I use to work for, and no body in that company liked him. This morning he is in his office at the end of the hall before you go into the plant. My office is up front in next to the front entrance of the building. I'm talking really far distance from his office. His fatass is sitting in his office and his yelling out for me. Our customer service girl who's desk is in a cubical in the main office hears him yelling for me and tells me that he wants me to come talk to him. Now who in their right mind just yells for people, except for out boss who is an idiot. I go into his office and he hands me a couple of catalog requests... no big deal I do this every day... and a fax. Acting like I'm his secretary telling me to fax this for him.

He telling me to oder more catalogs, and blah, blah and treating me like his personal secretary. No one knows what our boss has decided and now all these people think they will be boss... this place is a f ucking mess! Worse of all.... I'm probably going to end up working for this asshole now! G

I just don't know how much more I can put up with. If something doesn't give with one of our houses, so I can get out of this situation you might see me on the next episode of SNAPPED!


Sorry I really needed to vent, because this situation has been going down hill quickly....

Wow - that really sucks! Sounds like you have 2 choices - find another job or just smile, take it and rant to all of us. I HATE people who micro-manage! My boss had this whole conversation with me the other day about how hes going to join a gym so I ask him a few days later about it and he tells me that this is a work environment and we have better things to do than talk about personal stuff! WTF??? Sometimes personalities dont mesh.....make the best of it.....it will turn around.

yeah, it sucks how dipshyts get into situations that make them think they are worth 1 damn dollar. And I know just the type you're talking about. I would say that I'm a pretty thorough worker. Very attentive to detail. I had this guy over me that is driving the company into the ground. He changes how things are done on a weekly, sometimes daily basis. And I don't mean little this and that, like this dumb ass can't figure out things enough that his little ideas change the whole infrastructure everytime he swaps it up. It's called wishy-washy. Wishy washy people shouldn't run a fukin ink pen. How the hell these people make it to management, I don't know. But this guy's the same way as your guy that don't like for anyone to out think him. I'm a note taker. I write shyt down, so I take a notepad into every meeting, of coarse. And our little group has a meeting every morning. Well a few months ago this dipshyt decided to jump my shyt for doing something how he'd forgot he said it to be done. I made my point and flipped right to the page and date of the meeting and said, "oh, here's where I must have misunderstood you." needless to say, he didn't care for that.
I could go on, but I'll spare ya. I just figured after that episode that it'd be best to get along, just be a 'yes man', and try and out last the dumb ass. Because I've learned in his 39yrs in the business, the reason he isn't retired is because he don't stay with any one company for more than a few years. fuk head

Good news...

Well it turns out that my boss resigned today. He's finishing cleaning out his office and turning in his keys today. The good news is that the new company wants me to stay on board, so I get to keep my job!

One of two things can happen from here... it would be great... no, AWESOME if they will put me under their marketing people out of FL. Then if they make the asshole sales rep, general manager over the company here, I won't have to answer to him... and that would make my world a much better place.

However, they make him boss and then he's my boss and I end up burying his body in a field somewhere... but you guys never anything about that, right? or... if they put the VP of Operations over me... he's not much better. He is just another one of my bosses lap dogs.

hmmm, just keep repeating... I love my job. I love my job. I love my job. I love my job.

Isn't it amazing how these people make their way up the ladder. I just doesn't seem right, but it happens every day.

My boss doesn't even have a high school degree. He calls himself a self-made engineer. He is self taught on everything. He stabbed his mentor in the back and forced him into retirement then took over his job. Then this guy claims that all the formulations for our products were his. His is such an idiot because he believes their were his formulations and everyone in the industry know they weren't. He also steal peoples ideas. We are a copycat... "me too" company and in his mind he believes we are industry leaders.

His company bio is nothing but lies. When this new company asked resumes from key management for the company, we all gave them our resume, but he didn't. He refused to give them a resume saying he didn't need too. The reason he did give a resume is because his lack of experience would come out. He would be exposed that his job history is all false.

It just amazes me how honest hard working people get kicked in the ass and people like him end up in charge.

I'm going on 17 yrs. I was trying to get out of it, but now my husband is a concrete man. lol

What do you do? I am marketing manager for an adhesives manufacture. We manufacture adhesives for the flooring industry. Everything from carpet adhesives to VCT, wood, ceramic, etc. and even cove base.

I'm in the carpet capitol of the world and there is no way to get away from it...

I was in the ceramic tile world forever....started at 18 - my first job out of school. We sold mastic and thinsets.

The company that is buying us manufactures grout, caulks, mortar systems, surface preps, mastics, concrete patching and self-leveling compounds, and adhesives... tons of stuff. They are huge world wide, so this is could be a great opportunity if I'm working with the right people.
