This really upsets me when I am spending over $500/month in gas. I don't even drive much so I know some of you out there have to be irrate. 14.8 billion is a little excessive wouldn't you say.

exxon does not set the price of a barrel of oil, it is a world market


i've posted before, when a war comes, u short the currency and buy commodities, when they let all them investment banks lever up 40-1 versus 10-1, it was the trade of the decade

it is a result of the war, plain and simple


all the banks go bust, they cut off the leverage, and what happens, prices drop like a rock, it was all traders trading

No one was there to defend the oil companies back in 1986 when oil dropped blow $10 per barrel and was having record losses. Of course high oil prices will result in record profits. If you believe that there is a conspiracy, purchase stock!

oil was at 20 bucks and funding the afgan war

when it went to 10 bucks, due too saudi pumping it up, russia went bankrupt and blew up the soviet union

fe...i hope you wasnt trying to get me feeling sorry for oil company's! did you feel bad for them when oil was 10$ a barrel? lol...i dont think it's a "conspieracy", i think it's just good old fashioned rapping of the american public! oil goes up 1$ a barrel and you see a .07 raise at the pump. it comes down 15$ a barrel and they shave a nickle!! thats some fuked up math right there!!!

watch a graph of the price of gas and barrels of oil.

the oil goes up and immediately the gas goes up to match and still maintain a healthy profit. yet the gas we are paying for at the pumps was purchased at the lower price per barrel earlier before it went up

when oil goes down the price of gas slowly retreats after recouping loss in margin from the hike in the crude.

they have a win win biz.

No, I didn't feel that anyone would feel sorry for oil companies but they are in the free enterprise system with us. The only variable is opec. If they were in cahoots with reagan, they wouldn't have kept threatning to cut production and kept scaring UP the price for years until the oversupply finally took over and prices plumetted. I know some people love a good conspiracy but that's not how it went down.
Where we agree is if there is a rise in oil, there is an immediate effect at the pump. When it drops, it takes a while to drop.. WHY? Because gas station resist reducing prices to keep profit margins up until geographic competitors reduce their prices and threaten to take away market share. No conspiricy by cartels, governments... Just people in a free enterprise system trying to maximize profits.

i'm sure that has to do with some of it, but i aint letting the gas company's off that easy!! i'm sure they hem and maw about dropping it too the gas station to begin with...maybe a little TOO much hem and haw?

But here the price per litre is 1.06$

when it is supposed to be 65 cents!

someone explain me why!
