  • Barr will save you money, not Mccain,Obama

Im not posting this to piss anyone off. Just the facts. I know many feel it is a wasted vote to vote 3rd party. Im not sure that it is a wasted vote. At least it sends a message that we arent happy with the same old crap. I still may vote mccain, but am not real sure about it.

Bob Barr Will Save You Money

    by Andrew Davis
    Sep 26, 2008

A study released by the National Taxpayers Union (NTU) listed Bob Barr as the most fiscally responsible candidate running for president, noting a Barr presidency would cut federal spending by a whopping $200.9 billion.

"Both the McCain and Obama campaigns have tried to keep pace with the political issues of the day -- largely by responding with proposals for new programs and regulations that could reach deeper and deeper into taxpayers' pockets," NTUF Senior Policy Analyst Demian Brady said. "On the other side of the spectrum, Bob Barr's Libertarian philosophy is strongly reflected in a platform that is built upon cutting programs and slashing spending."

The study found that Sen. John McCain would raise federal spending by nearly $100 billion, compared Sen. Barack Obama's plans that would raise spending by almost $300 billion.

"America's financial future rests entirely on its ability to reduce government spending," says Barr. "The deficit this year will run a record $407 billion or more. Next year the red ink will be even greater. And there are trillions upon trillions of dollars of taxpayer liabilities that will come due under Medicare and Social Security as the Baby-Boomers retire."

"What are the plans of Senators McCain and Obama?" Barr asks. "Spend more."

A special thanks to the NTU for including Bob in their final report!

No we have a one party system, operating on the ideology of pragmatism, masquerading as two parties. I don't fall for the bull$hit. They are both pro-statist, so if you vote for one of the two parties your voting for statism, period - I won't do that!!!

the thing that worries me about barr is the ex-cia thing..
Baldwin was endorsed by Ron Paul...

Well I see where you would line up with Barr- the only problem is by voting for him- thats one less vote to stop Obama from winning. Judging by your post, by voting the way you are- it will cost us 200 Billion dollars- just wanted to say thanks for helping us poor ole tax payers

Well said. I don't make the rules, just play by them. It's like disagreeing with the DH rule in baseball so you make your pitcher hit anyway. You need to use the resources available to you at the time.

If you are voting for a Third party, at least you are getting out their and exercising your right to vote.

The sad thing is, your candidate does not have a chance in this election. So in a sense, it is a wasted vote. There has to be something that you agree with, on either candidate that does have a chance. Mccain or Obama will be our next president and I don't find it wrong for you to cast a vote for the one you dislike less.

i appreciate that line of thaught, but..if i dont vote for who i REALLY want, then i believe i'm wasting my vote. also, the prob. is no other party gets any media coverage. i'm sure there's ALOT more people who'd agree with Barr, but dont know who the hell he is! if we dont start voting for who we WANT, as apposed to voting for the lessor of who we dont want, then there never will be another option. if a third party can garner the attention it deserve's, you'd might be surprised in how many people agree with something other than status quo

I help you rehabilitate your damaged brain... It would be if your alternative canditate lost by less than the percantage margin of what the libertarian vote will be. So if 2% meant the diffrence to john mccain, you were a contributing factor to the loss. Look at the 2000 election with nader. Oddly enough the nader supporters didn't make that same mistake in 2004. Same thing you might be thinking in 2012.

THE THIRD PARTY CANDIDATE DOESN'T HAVE TO WIN TO MAKE A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN THE POLITICAL LANDSCAPE. If and when the Republican party shifts towards individual freedom it will be because they will try to attract voters from the Libertarian Party that have left the Republican party. And when that happens you guys can thank people like Klash, daved150, straydog and dzone. If it wasn't for people like us they would maintain their position just slightly right of the progressive/socialist/commie party of the Democrats.

Yeah Nader didn't get the same support in 2004 but that is because of two factors. Kerry shifted his party more to the left to attract the Nader supporters and Nader had a falling out with the Green party and ran as an independent candidate.
