I waited in line last night for over an hour to get gas in my wife's car. I then went out this morning at 5:30 to hopefully beat the line and still had to wait in line for 20 minutes. A lot of places here in Charlotte are out of gas.

down in houston where the hurrican was is like 40% of us's refining capacity, and they were shut down for a week, so that is why, we have the supply, refining was just a little short, they'll catch up in a week
It's the damn media!!!! They got people all in a panic when the hurricane was about to hit on how gas prices were going up, and there was going to be a shortage, etc. Then people ran out that night and topped off their gas tanks which lead to more panic. There are scattered stations in certain areas who are out of gas. Because a few stations ran out, now people still are thinking there is a shortage and they keep topping off their tanks. Some stations are limiting gas purchase to only $20.00.
There really shouldn't be any problems. The governor of TN lifted summer-time "environmental" restrictions on gas, so there wouldn't be a gas shortage. It did seem to help, because people were still lining up for gas.
A friend of mine didn't go to his rentals up in Tuscaloosa this weekend because he heard they had a shortage going on.
Be careful getting gas where the tanks are low. That's where the water sits. I had 3 vehicles come thru last week with water in the tank. The tech, that worked on a Jeep Liberty that is a diesel, emptied the Fuel/Water separater/filter, and only about 4oz of almost 32ozs was fuel. The rest, water. The Jeep owner filled up when people thought we were going to run out 2 weekends ago, along with the other 2. and we never saw a shortage. There were lines at every gas station that Friday, and alot of them ran out. My wife called me on her way to work the next morning to confirm my statement that everything would be back to normal the next day or by Monday. It had even dropped back down in price already. I asked a lady at a gas station how that works, with the price going up steady throughout that Friday. She said that everytime they have a truck bring in more gas that they can raise the price. You'd think they would've held it out over the weekend at least.
If you are experiencing a shortage, get premium. Not everybody goes for premium. Our vehicles have to have it, and we actually had to get gas that weekend too. Thank goodness they've been fine...running wise...no water.

My mom called me on Friday to tell me that we shouldn't come down to visit them because the gas shortage in ATL. With my little Corolla, I can make it to ATL and back on a tank of gas. I wasn't that worried about it. We've had spot out of gas around town, so it hasn't been that bad. We decided to go anyway. In a 45 mile stretch from the Interstate to my parents house there was only 3 gas stations with gas. One station had a line for days. When we get about 35 miles from home, I decided to stop and file up because that was the cheapest place to get gas. That station was out. We filed up at a station across the street, but later we found out from my husband's parents that most of the stations on the other side of the county were out. Now we are seeing more station that are out of gas. The county next to us was totally out as of yesterday.
