I don't believe in fate. People always point to meeting their spouses as a moment of fate. I believe the people we choose as our spouses express themselves with characteristics we have strong values connected with. My wife showed characteristics I have high values for and visa versa. it had nothing to do with fate..

dosnt really explain my situation too well...lets see...we really didnt have anything in comin (she was a country girl redneck, i was a longhair guitarist in a heavy metal band, she thaught metallica was a FORM of music...) i had no idea of her values or morals and she had no idea of mine. we went on 1 date and 2 days later she moved in with me. 17 (almost 18) yrs later, i love her more now than i did then. oh...she was married, with a son, when we met. she wasnt really happy, but it wasnt bad enough for her to leave him....until i came along....and it all just felt like thats the way it was suposed to be....kinda like fate.

I believe everything is foreseen by God, but ultimately free will exists. We are able to do right and wrong and take the path we choose.

So fate does indeed exist, at least in my beliefs

as a spiritual person i have wrestled with this for a long time.

If God is omnipotent and already knows everything before it happens then there is no free will. you cant have both, it is eitherblack or white.

i dont believe in fate nor do i believe in the Bible's interpretation of God. it was a book written by men inspired by a higher power that has been changed over and over and had parts left out and parts added.

IMO there is no fate. we pick our paths and make our own ways

my faith is unsure at the moment. i prayed every night for the last week please let me not wake up tomorrow and every day i wake up to go through 16 more hours and pray for the same thing again. obviously someone's not listening or i;m just not on the good list.

just to point out that my statement about me being god wasnt to be a smartazz...i believe we are all our own gods..i try to live my life by the tao....
so there is no god...just us...

i gave up praying a long time ago. what will happen will regardless. i dont feel there is any all powerful hand that will intervein in our lives. we are but bacteria on a spot of dust in infinite space. this is why religion was spawned to help man deal with the fact that we are so insignificant in the universe.

the old saying "god helps them who help themselves" is true

i am not saying faith will not help some people. its a fact if you believe in somthing there is a placebo effect in a positive belief.

Buhddism is very similar to Christianity without the damnation and fire and brimstone and condemnation to hell if you dont believe a certain way.

even has a similar story to creation as adam and eve

YOU are supposed to be here in this world!!! That is why your prayers are not being answered. Try praying for strength to get you through the hard times you are having. Hug your children everyday and they will give you the strength you need.

im not going to debate religion because i dont like where it always ends up..but i just wanted to say that personal strength and the strength you get from your children have nothing to do with god...
why cant people see that the inner strenght they get comes from themselves?
i would like to ask a serious question...asnd the example im going to use i will only use because its one we are all familiar with...
the people that were killed in the wtc on 9/11..do you think they werent praying god while the building was still standing?...and the buildings still crumble...why? where was your god?..why didnt he save those people..why does he let babies die? and the answer that people are being tested is a crock..one person loses a life to test another?...it seems to me that if there is a god he is a vindictive, and cruel god...i know in my heart of hearts that there is no god..but if there were a one almighty god..he is not one i would follow...and some will say that it is satan doing the bad....well if that were the case then your god needs to step in and show some cojones...
i hope i didnt offend anybody...that is not my intention...
