we go to the mall a couple 2-3 times a month. we went lastweekend (back to school) and had to go again this weekend. tis mall is in a pretty affluent hood...sports star's, ceo's (microsoft) and other bigwigs of industry. i would've thaught of this area as recession proof. the mall has about 50% franchise stores, but it has ALOT of unique stores....
anyways, between last sunday and this sunday, 14 stores closed!!! franchises like pacsun, lids, mastercuts and 579, as well as some mom and pops!!! i couldnt believe it. this mall is NEVER empty. it has an awsome gaming area, movie theater and a little ride area for smaller kids...there was NO-ONE there. it was eary to say the least....

wow...wtf. on the way in this morning, 2 gas station that we stop at are closed!!! i know others are having prob's, but i wouldnt expect it to all hit at the same time!

dam...and you look at fannymae and feddymac and ya think holyshyt!!! my cousin was just telling me she took her kids to a mall about an hr south of us and it was the samething!!

I haven't seen a mall in over 6 months or more. There tons of mom and pop business in our area are going under too. We have a big clothing store called "Goody's" and they closed all of their stores in our area.

they are unwinding the biggest massive credit build up in history, it is hitting all assets in the world, banks will not lend, thus if you need credit to keep your biz going thru hard times, it ain't there, thus, away u go

yea trip, i know what your saying...we're trying to get a loan for this place to stay open, and it's looking bad....also, we just got notice about 15mins ago from 2 of our student lending sorces that they are tightening up the pruse strings. (raising the bar of qualifications)...point is....this situation is probobly gonna shut us down

shit i wish it was like that here....went to cabelas the other day...got anxiety it was so damn busy...went to check out..waited in line for 10 min..went to the mall next to get wife some makeup...waited at the clinique counter for 25 min to get makeup...no slow down in Utah...yet
