The Barr Campaign just put out a press release stating that Saddleback Church, Pastored by Rick Warren, is contributing illegally to the Republican and Democrat Nominees by inviting them exclusively to an event. Normally any event invitations must be given to all Presidential Candidates, with predetermined conditions of participation (such as polling numbers) published prior to the event. In this case, the Church is simply inviting the Candidates that they want to position as the choices - which seems to constitute a violation, at least in the Barr Campaign’s opinions, of FEC rules.

This just reenforces the two-party system stranglehold of power and the exclusionary tactics used to keep it that way! Religion has no place in politics, and if it did then why wouldn't Warren invite Chuck Baldwin to join the discussion? Baldwin's writings and the CP party platform's religious tone is what actually turns me away from voting for Chuck. Seems stupid that a pastor like Rick Warren wouldn't have an actual so-called Christian at his forum instead of having two religious exploitive candidates like JM and BO. I guess Barr and Nader are unworthy as well.

At this point it really doesn't matter what the Barr campaign says. Illegal or not, this event has already been held and will affect how people think of the 2 candidates. This was very interesting to watch and has only confirmed to me that my choice of the 2 candidates is even more on target.

Obama and Mccain are the 2 candidates that matter in this election so inviting others is irrelavent.

Religion has become an important part of this campaign wether we like it or not.

I agree, I think religion (a philosophy) is very important. Whether someone admits it or not, it is the foundation in which all decisions are made. So what someone believes is very relevant.

...who determines what candidates matter and who is irrelevant? Barr (the Libertarian candidate but not a libertarian) is on the ballot in 49 states - I think that should give him access to debates and venues similar to this one.

fuzo it doesnt matter if paul is in or not...please stop reverting everything back to my support for paul....the bottom line is this..like klash said...barr is on the ballot in 49 states..then there is also chuck baldwin running for the constitution party and ralph nader running for the green party...this has nothing to do with my support for paul..but has everything to do with fair elections...which this is not because of the media...its only mccain and obama because the media says so...and if paul was in i would say the same thing..everybody deserves their shot....
