My family loves to Scallop.
The season is only 10 weeks long and we try to take advantage of it. We are going hook to the boat and head out in about an hour and probably come home Sunday if the weather stays good. We stay at a nice little place were it is quiet.
Myself and my 10 year old daughter eat more as we clean them than when we cook them at the house. If you like sushi you would LOVE bay Scallops. They are very sweet and almost buttery tasting. They have a dense flakey texture and with the salinity of the water they are a salty sweet pleasure.
We just snorkal around in the shallows on the grass and pick them up. Even the 5 year old loves it. You can walk around and feel them with your feet and pick them up. My wife uses a little dip net she is scared they will clamp on her finger.
