so the truth shouldnt be told to children?
its true that america is not what it used to be...where is the problem in saying that? i say it all the time..and so do millions of other people..does that mean we hate america? or love it enough to want to bring it back to its original foundations? i think we need to get to the kids while theyre young and teach them truth and stop with this deliberate dumbing down of america...over the past 20 years weve sat and watched our children get dumber and dumber in a federally run school system..which doesnt work....education is the backbone of any society and ours is breaking....get with it people...

Yes, truth should be told to children, but you have to consider their age when you explaining things to them. They are small children and they don't always fully understand things. When children are small, things frighten them very easily and they shouldn't have to take on much stress at such a young age. You really have to think about how to be truthful to them in a way that they can understand. Children should not have to worry at such young ages. They are already growing up way to fast. Answering them with such negativity is not the answer either. What if that little girl thought Obama was some kind of hero or something, because of his response to her, what will she think of america? You think he would have some sense of how to respond to a child, he has 2 of his own for God's sake!

A friend of mine thinks the same way about telling his kids the truth. They'll grow up thinking their mother is a worthless piece of shyt. which she is, but they'll figure that out themselves as they mature and begin to think more for themselves. They don't need to think their mother is bad. She does love them dearly, and they are in her care most of the time. And by time these children are of age to vote, she might be a good woman. But by then it'll be too late because my friend has already taught them through those tender, most impressionable years, that their mother is useless.

I'm not saying we should outright lie to children, but in those tender years we have to be careful of what we put in their minds.

I want children to love their country first. Then go from there.

Amercia isn't what it once was in many ways and many eras. A child that age isn't going to have the attention span for the rest of what's needed to follow that statement. But that statement, and of coarse who made it, will stick with that child forever.

im sorry but im a firm believer in telling the truth..im not going to sugar coat things..thats whats wrong with people nowadays..you need to walk on eggshells and sugar caot shyte because people are too sensitive..eff that pc bs....i agree that kids are not easily able to comprehend things that are told to them..but maybe trying to explain things to them instead of thinking they wont understand it will make them smarter...instead of not being able to understand...ask any kid who discovered america and you know what theyre going to tell you...because they are taught bs...ask someone who the 16th president was and they cant tell you..but ask them who won american idol and theyre sure to know...me..im the oppososite....and i expect that my children to be will be the same...knowledge is power..the more you try to teach the more people will understand...and that includes children...

i would like to say that there are boundaries of course..telling your child that their other parent is a piece of shyte is a bit different than trying to explain to them about the history of the country and matters such as those...

I am not suggesting that children be lied to, but you have to decide what you think they can handle. So if they ask you what having sex is, or anything else sex related, they should be told the truth at any age, as well? Kids take on a lot more now than they should at a very young age and I don't think that is so good. They need to be kids and not have so many worries at a young age. I am guessing that you do not have children and maybe you will feel different when you do. Then again, maybe you won't and that is your right as a parent.

im not going to get into a religious argument...me being an atheist..we make up about 5% of the us population..we are discriminated against more tan most people even understand...
but yes..if my child..when old enough decided they want to believe in god thats their right...it will make for good discussion as well...but its tough for people not to believe in it when its pushed down your throat your whole life..in school..on money..on tv..in society as a whole...us atheists subjected to your god daily..and apparently thats ok..but have an atheist talk bad about god and watch out!!!! things get ugly....
and baby1..as far as the sex question goes...i think it could be very easily explained in a non graphic manner what the purpose of sex is...think of it like this...
1- if they are asking about sex then theyve been exposed to it in some manner..whether tv or in some other venue...which raises the question as to why your letting your child witness it...
2- if you explain to children to purpose of sex..which is re-creation of our species..they are less likely to be curious and go out trying it and getting pregnant when theyre 13...
sex has a mysterious air to it...and as they say..curiosity killed the cat...so the less curious you are about something the less likely you are to explore the subject....

when they show an interest in it...or curiosity..all kids develop at different ages..most youg children arent interested in that kind of thing but when they ask you should tell them...your typical 5 year old isnt going to question such a thing so it shouldnt be an issue..but say an average 13-14 year old...theyre developing and i think life should begin to be explained...either you do it or tv will...or they will begin to experiment and learn for themselves..which isnt always a good thing...
and i dont necessarily mean people treat their kids like their stupid...i meant that people dont think that kids have the capacity to learn things that they are fully capable of learning if given the opportunity,guidance,and proper means of education....now of course your 6 year old kid wont fully understand such a thing..nor would they generally want to...but if a kid comes and asks you where babies come from or what is sex...what are you going to tell them? sometimes i think that people try too hard to protect children and it just proves detrimental to their well-being...id rather be the one to tell my child these things than have them learn it from their friends and give me a grandchild when their 14 because i failed as a parent to properly educate them...
