    Re: WHAT TO DO

This ring is not an engagement or wedding ring. Looks just like a very nice ring with a double channel setting of diamonds.

          Re: WHAT TO DO

if you guys are asking then you must be bothered anyway. Do whatever you two will feel best about. If you need the cash then use it to help your family. If it was 5 grand it was probably insured bro.

            Re: WHAT TO DO

put up signs stated that you found a ring, and the owner must describe it and show receipts to get it back... dont post pics of it or anything.

                Re: WHAT TO DO

So, over a year ago my wife took her ring off to put lotion on. She is freakin'..(I'm Freakin' 'cause it's a $12,000 phucking ring). I'm like, your next ring is an efing gumball machine ring...
So, after she freaked for 24hrs, she goes back to work the next day and as she is walking thru the parking lot.. BAM, there it is!!! OK, I might add that there was about 4"now on the ground.. Now she doesn't take that ring off except to rub me off!!! Whew...

As for what to do... you found it, you're the one you have to please.
The Chicago bit cracked me up.. I've been there, so freakin' right. They would have it on their girlfriends finger by end of day (not the cops wife!).. Haahaaa

                    Re: WHAT TO DO

Is it old? You can tell if it's a family heirloom that's been handed down a few generations. That would of coarse have allot more value than a brand new "I'm sorry for screwing your sister in our own bed" ring. But ya never know the story behind it unless it has some age to it. If it looks like an heirloom, I would try to re-connect it to it's keeper. I'd probably try to pair it with it's owner even if it was new. But you never know. She might have took that ring off her finger and threw it as far as she could, and if I knew that, I wouldn't give it back.

There are people with metal detectors that go out everyday looking for things like that. That ring is the reason that makes all their days of metal detecting worth the time. Ask one of those guys what they would do with it. And they're usually older, possibly retired, very ethical people. Come to think of it...if they just found a ring like that, I wonder what they would do. I think they feel like they've worked for their finds, so they feel an entitlement to whatever they find.
