Don't worry about life, you're not going to survive it anyway.

They had one of those sitting right next to mine. The Honda and Yamaha dealerships merged here in town. I think it's pretty cool too, if you're into that sorta thing, lol..jk man. It is badass. You can't go wrong with a Honda either.

nah, it's a good looking bike. I just prefer a true super sport. I believe the Daytona 675 runs in the AMA Formula Extreme. The CBR 600RR owns that division though.

How is the fuel economy on those 600cc bikes? I'm thinking about getting a bike once I save up enough money, but the only manufacturer that lists the fuel economy is Buell. The Buell Firebolt XB12R gets 48mpg city/65mpg hwy. I can't find that manufacture data for any of the Japanese sports bikes!

d@mn! that's excellent gas mileage. I have never figured it up, but I would have said around 30-35mpg, but I've never ridden one in a practical 'daily driver' kind of way until now. That's actually one of my main selling points to my wife; that I wanted another one because of the great gas mileage, and that I plan on riding it most of the time.

I'd believe 40+ mpg in a normal commute kind of way.

Speaking of gas mileage...another luxury that I had gotten used to is a gas gauge. CBR is the only sport bike with one. At least Yamaha does enlighten you now with more than just a gas light. You now get a sort of tripmeter when the light comes on, so you don't have to worry anymore about how long it might have been on before you noticed it. You know how many miles you've ridden since it came on. That's all you really need on a sport bike. I don't plan on any road trips to Sturgis[sp].

yep, a good friend of mine that races CCS FL division got a '08 R6 for this season, and ran out of gas crossing the finish line at Daytona this year. The meter said he got 14.9 miles. I think it comes on with 1 gallon left. He won the Championship last season on a Gixxer 1000. He went back to a ss because competition is much more fierce. He said it's just much better racing and skill level in the ss. I don't think he's won one this season, but this is his first year running in the expert class. This is his 5th R6. I guess he likes them.

Yeah I've read on a few different motorcycle forums that the Japanese sports bikes get about 30 to 35mpg. It's just odd that the manufacturer doesn't have any data on it. I guess the EPA doesn't regulate motorcycle companies?

60+mpg??? Dang that is good. What was your average speed when you achieved that fuel economy?

                          Re: my new blue baby

That's probably why they aren't messed with. It might be that in a road/highway test sort of thing, they put up rediculous numbers so it's just a non-issue. Very good thing. Any government or any thing like that needs to stay away.

I thought I remembered my last one pretty much always getting better than 30mpg. Sometimes close to 40, and I went through tanks in less than a hour, it seems like, riding track.

see, that's awesome. I never did just ride mine for a commute. This is the first one I've used for that and I love it. It is the best way to commute. It makes going anywhere fun. I was just riding everywhere trying to break it in, but I can see myself really useing it as primary transportation now. It also cuts the commute time down and it's not like I'm screaming everywhere I go. It just gets you there faster.
Not to mention getting 3 times better gas mileage.
