for those who are not quick i'd follow dave's advicee, everyday i wake up and for the last two months i want too email everyone i know and say, go too cash, which i've been in most of the time since sept/oct. sans, trading everyday

this makret is very ill, they allowed carzy stuff like allowing hedge funds 30-1 leverage, which is insane, in some area's u have freddie and fannie saying home prices have to go down another 15% to get too fair value

it is not that the economy sucks, it's all right, it is that there are no buyers for assets, because no one trusts one another, when u have no buyers, u only have sellers, and u go down

my best guess is we are 7 months into a 30 month bear market,

i have a list of why to buy, and they are strong, i have a list of why too sell and it is not long, yet, at the top no buyers

like i say, we will go thru an asset deleveraging correction for the next two year

there i said it, to u guys, afraid to say it anywhere else
I hear ya. Believe me; if I had it to spend, I'd be buying up some real estate.

I have been investing for retirement for 20 years. Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate(rental),and gold. the gold has been my hedge when everything else goes in the tank.
Gold has had a downward trend the past few days, but is still where I will keep things as long as it it over 750.00

            Re: Aaaargh... F'ing stocks...

This stock market is like riding on a roller coaster. It gets your stomach really queasy. I'm with you... all of my stocks and mutual funds are down, down, down. Right now is not a good time to sell anything. I'd say hang on to them if you can. If you got some money to invest and hold for awhile, is a good time to buy.

I had Legg Mason Value Fund that my ex bought, and I ended up with it from the divorce, so I've had it for a long time now. In 2001, it dropped down way below what we bought it for, so I've held on to it until last fall. I finally went a little above what I paid for it, so I broke even. I'm just glad to get rid of it. Now I can put it in something that it will grow... or at least I hope will grow.

As for the housing market, we still deep in it. We bought a new place and renovated it. Neither one of our houses have sold, so we are making 3 house payments. I'm hoping to rent mine out until the market gets better. He's thinking about auctioning his.

ahhhhhhhhh, a man with a mind, lol, j/k

diversification, and a plan, pretty simple in the long pull

              agree on the gold

having a stop loss is the key to liquid assets

xen, agree on the war, and several other idiotic govt spending things, buy/own assets that create value, the war is a sink hole to china

if i've said it once, i'll say it again, terrorists are just an f'n cult, that act like two year olds, the only solution is time, not allowing a two year old to dominate and control your life, the world did not change after 9-11, except more stupid decisions

                Re: Aaaargh... F'ing stocks...

No truly diversified portfolio loses money in the long term, however plenty of individual stocks have. Everything I have is in mutual funds and will stay that way, I try not to check it daily because things are not going so well and if I make a knee jerk reaction and sell, in the long run I will regret it for sure.

Stay away from individual stocks, they scare the crap out of me. Or at least wait until things are looking a bit brighter...
