  • What could this be ?

I was doing shoulders yesterday my normal weight 150lb dumbell arnold presses and i do 4 sets of 6-8 and on the 5th rep something popped in my shoulder. It doesn't hurt at all but my left shoulder is looking very different now than my right one... almost like the bone is trying to come out...

i dont know bro...my left shoulder pops on heavy shoulder presses as well...usually for the first 3-4 reps and then it stops. it dosnt hurt either. it's been doing this since i added rotator movements to my program. i dont know what it is, but it does have me concerned that one day it will hurt!

I had something similar happen to me when doing shrugs a while back. My right shoulder doesn't look like my left now but there's no pain. The doc said if it started givin me probs he'd do an MRI but so far there's no problem there, just not symetrical.

Daved150.. Sounds like you have bursitis. Basically calcium buildup that is popping in certain positions. I have the same thing. Surgery... or just staying away from voer head presses helps. I was told by a Doctor a LONG time ago to stop working out or get surgery. I told him to f' off... I just work around it. I still do over head, I just don't go much below parallel and not to full extension above my head.

DENO... Send a PM to DZone. He might be able to help you with that.

A dislocated shoulder may or may not hurt but putting it back in place always hurts. I personally do not like Arnold presses, it puts so much stress on the rotators at the point they are the weakest. I've seen more guys tear up their shoulders from that exercise than from behind the neck presses.

^^ I always thought upright rows were the #1 killer for rotator cuffs.
