This is just a scare tactic by Directv. That would never hold up in court if you bought a card or receiver/card and never set an account up with directv. Who is to say you didn't give the card to a friend or sold it?

Directv has been sending out this letter saying pay us $10,000 or go to Court for ages. Just ignore it like a customs letter. They have not taking a person to court yet. They are just hoping some idiot will get scared and mail the some money or turn over there testing equipment. Remember you can't get in trouble cause they "think" you are stealing. You have to get caught red handed.

i remember back in the day with scramblers, cable companies did something with their signal so that only those with black boxes could see it. A thing popped up saying you have won free cable for a year or something along those lines, and gave an address to go collect your reward. you show up, you get handcuffed, game over

Yeah i know a guy who got a letter for buying the equipment to do it.He settled with them to avoid the bother of possibly ending up in court.I told him to fight it but he said screw it.One good point i guess is that i scored some nice stuff from him that cant be traced to me.

Yup thats why you never use the phone line you must hook the it up to the reciever.
