    So I have a court date tomorrow for running a red light..and

    What should I say to the judge. A few weeks ago a city po pulled me over for not stopping at the red light. Gave me a $150 ticket which I'm refusing to pay and requested a hearing. What really happened was I was at this big intersection with a tall 18 wheeler in front of me. I wasn't near him at all...a few feet but somehow didn't see the whole light (the truck was too fookin tall) so I just kept driving and following the truck... and I did see...right before I crossed the lane, red light came on...soo...fook I look and the blue lights are behind me...so he stops me...gave me a ticket...didn't even let me explain... stupid mothaf...... and went his way...


    I'm in MA with the best driving record that there is. Never got a ticket or anything...except parking ones... my record is clean and shiny. What do I say to the judge. I heard in most cases if its a first offense they let you go with a warning.

    As a fellow Mass-hole i can tell ya that a lot of times the cop doesn't even show up, if so then no fine. if he does just tell the judge ,actually it may even be a clerk and not a judge, the same thing you said here about not being able to see the light due to the truck and be respectful, stressing that your clean driving record is important to you and you're proud of the fact that you are a safe and concientious driver and they may just dismiss it.
    You may not recognize your mom when you get home, I shaved her back.

      Just tell them what really happened. What's wrong with that? The same thing has happened to me, except that I didn't get a ticket. It has probably happened to a lot o people. Besides, BD is right that the cop who issued the citation may not even be there at half of the hearings scheduled, in which case you are home free. Stress your clean record with the judge.

          I got a $200 for going through a yellow light ! anything for a quota and a buck the bast@rds ! you have a sterling record bra, just tell the truth. the first time I had that happen the judge let me slide saying, "if you dont get wrote up in the next six months I'll drop it", and that he did. Good luck !

            you are required to follow at a safe distance,,,which meas far enough away to stop in road conditions, and far enough away to see traffic signs lights...yo have no defense, but the judge may give you the fine, and not access any points since it is your first offense....or the op may not show.

              in my state depending on the judge they can often but you can get it deferred, as long as you dont get a ticket in the next two years it doesn go on your record...something you might want to check into

                exactly! chances are, the cop's gonna show, so dont get that in your head. he'll be with you and everyone else he gave a ticket to for that week or so. also, dont say the i've heard judges will drop tickets blah, blah, blah thing!! that comes off way stupid. i recieved a ticket for 10 over (about 3years ago). at the time, i had never had any ticket in my life. i explained to the judge that i was REAL conscientious about my driving and that i'm aware of the mistake i made and you can bet, based on my previous record, that it wont happen again!! it helped that i had never been in a court room before and looked REAL STUPID going through the process. she (the judge) based on my previous record and said she'd throw it out if there wasnt an objection from the cop. now, what's the cop gonna do? be an asshole towards me and tork the judge? the cop was more than agreeable and it was dismissed! (same biotch crucified me for a dui about a year later, but thats a diff. story (fukin toby kieth!)

                  all you have to do is have resonable doubt. ask the officer where he was. ask if there was anything obstructing his view. ask him to define "stop" then when you get to testify explain that according to the officers testimony you did stop and the officer must be mistaken.
                  ask him how many other people were at the intersection and were there other cars moving about in the vicinity that could have thrown shadows to make it look like your car was rolling

                  these are just some of the things i hear when a guy shows up to court with a lawyer. somtimes they win other times they loose

                    THERE GONNA SAY IF YOU COULDNT SEE THE LIGHT THAT YOU WERE DRIVING TO CLOSE TO THE TRUCK. GET SUPERVISION PAY THE FINE. SORY TO SAY YOUR PROBABLY NOT GOING TO WIN.
