Anyone used or know anything about Vonage?

I'm thinking of switching to a digital phone service like Vonage, but wonder if there are any hidden charges or problems?

I don't know anything, sorry. House phone sucks these days. I have a family sprint plan with decent minutes and other shiat.

I think they cover the entire nation, I could be wrong. All you need is high speed internet with a modem and that's it. You can even keep your old number. Free long distance and local distance calls. That's not bad for about what $25 a month. If I didn't have this family plan I would get it too. +

Played with it at my job because the company I worked for was based out of Denmark. Not bad.

i have had vonage every since they first came out have never had a prob with there service and there is no hidden charges at all i get the same bill every single month

I pay $30.74 every month after taxes for the unlimited $25 plan. It was horrible in the beginning, but they have since fixed their issues.

I used to have a similar service from Packet8. Most of the adapters now have routers built in so you simply plug the adapter in between the computer and modem.

As far as other jacks in the house go, if you're planning on hooking up to them, make sure you disconnect the incoming feed from the original land line provider first, or you may damage the adapter. Also, check the REN's on all your phones to make sure there's enough ringing power to make all of your phones ring. On most (but not all) adapters of this type, if the total of all REN's exceeds 5.0 your phones may not ring. Check with Vonage's support staff to find out what your maximum allowable REN total is.
