Re: How To Actually Win A Fist Fight

Absolutely SFG its no joke fighting anymore not only do you have to worry about arrests but also the possibility you get used even if you didn't start it and didn't want any part of it. I'm old school in if I run my mouth and someone closes it good for them I had it coming and should no better next time. It's just not like that anymore and as for the head butt I've used it and it works great I've broken my right hand twice and have had to have surgery so I'd rather not punch. I'd rather not fight at all but there are always time when it comes to family or something else you need to take care of business.

EXACTLY! Nobody wants to take the ass whooping anymore. Its always let me get my friends or my gun or call the cops. The laws are no joke about his crap now. Thats one of the biggest reasons i avoid it now. Im more worried about what happens after the fight then what happens during it. I agree brother now im at the point where u can say and do pjust about anything to me and ill walk away the only time i wont is when it has to do with somone who cant defend themselves like a female or sibling or something. I just avoid places i think fights may happen. I cant remember the last time i was in a fight and hopefully it stays that way
I never meant to be better than anyone, I was just born that way. Its hard being a god amongst peasants!

without training all the articles in the world will not give even a little bit of edge in a fight. as soon as one of you swing without drilling footwork, stance and guard both guys will turn into stumbling windmills and when one guy gets tagged he WILL turn away.

the article was right about the importance of footwork although it's advice on this topic is not correct.

HAHA, i can't take an article like this for what it is. I love boxing/ Muay Thai so much and have devoted so much time to it............i just have to laugh at myself.

I would say take 3+ months of boxing class if you want to win a fistfight and hope you don't end up rolling on the ground so take Brazillian Jiu Jitsu too. many a big powerful guy has been humbled by skinny weak looking fellows in my camp.

I do like this read. However I did not get the point of this point her about putting your dominate leg forward. I dont see how you car drive through the leg, torso and shoulder and arm like this: "the position of your feet and legs - determines how much power you can deliver in a blow. You should keep your feet about shoulder width apart, with your “strong” foot slightly forward. Your knees should NEVER be locked - keep them slightly bent, but not so much so that you feel a strain in your upper legs."

That first video clearly has the left leg forward and the blows are being delivered by the right hand. Am I off with this view?

you are right as far as typical boxing goes. power goes in back, weak side foot forward. my fight last august the guy was a stance switcher. after i figured it out every time he went to switch or had his weak leg in back it gave me momentum to attack. his strong side did not land hard nor did his weak side which was back. my coach who was a world champ Muay Thai fighter and pro boxer tells us not to switch (unless you are freakishly fast)

I certainly don;t claim to be an expert or even good at striking but I have done it for 5 years and know a wee bit.

bruce lee liked his power hand forward as he said he lands more with it. the trade off is you get less power with it.

as for the guys doing the downward open hand strikes. that is silly with a real fighter. very easy to slip and a real fighter won't leave his arms out for you to strike them. also if you miss your hand is way down and your face open for straight punches. there is a reason boxing is the base for stand up striking with the hands in MMA.

I come from a boxing background, i keep my power foot back most of the time but can switch if needed. As far as the open handed strike on real fighters for the most part you are very correct. But most REAL fighters also have discipline and self control and wont be trying to fight you and for the most part if you dont want to fight they will just walk away. Most the the people who will try and force you into a fight at least from what i have experienced are all ego and nothing the back it up against.

you are correct. it is next to impossible for me to see fighting without looking at it as a fighter who is trained. i still think it's a waste of energy to try to heel strike a forearm.
