  • Seratonin and Dopamine damage from Steroids ?

Is it possible. ?? Can AAS mess with your central nervous system ?? I have done about 10 cycles and I'm currently clean but lately man I've been just out from everything... I used to be a heavy doser, talk about gram and a half of test a week, using Anadrol at heavy doses etc... always had a proper PCT and everything else...but for a few months now I've been suffering from heart palpitations, vivid dreams, panic/anxiety attacks...cold chills, severe diarrhea, vivd dreams, awareness of heartbeat all the time..etc... no depression whatsoever tho. My doctor checked my heart with EKG and it was fine, blood levels were fine, oxygen levels were fine too. I am picking up the holster - heart monitor device that I will wear for 24 hours. I also did my share with some rec. drugs as an young adult in college...and haven't touched anything illegal in decades. My doctor yesterday did suggest that I take [AROXETINE HCL WHICH IS "PAXIL" 20mg a day ..she put me on this until march 16th,

    Any thoughts bro..?

I don't know, possibly. I take 5-HTP for seratonin personally. You can get it OTC so it's not on your medical records. I took one of those anti-depressants about 6 years ago and when we changed health insurance programs they made this big ass stink about it and made me add a rider that said they would not cover me for depression for one year. I was only on the stuff for six weeks, that's it. But, I find that 5-HTP is just as good as the script stuff if you have mild symptoms. Someone with moderate can take 5-HTP with SAM-e and get by but if you have severe depression, I don't think OTC stuff will help you. My buddy's wife was pretty depressed and she even made comments about wanting to be dead (long story but it had nothing to do with him). So, I told her to take the 5-HTP and SAM-e together and I'm telling you bro, she's a new woman. Completely happy and laughing all the time again. And, she doesn't have this on her medical records. Now, she's about half my size and taking the same dose I would, so that's the main reason it's working. I take 100 mg (or mcg) a day of 5-HTP. That has always done it for me. It take about 10 to 14 days to get working but you do feel better.

As for the other endorphines, these you can boost with walking. I kid you not. I'll go on a hike out here in Colorado and when I'm done I feel like a champ. My attitude is great, my outlook is great, everything just seems better. Now that it's cold it harder to get out but any time it gets down to the 50's I try to get out and hike, even if it's just an hour. It makes me feel so much better and the high last for days.
I used to have superhuman powers....until my therapist took them away.

Yeah, I tried 5-HTP and it did work as a mood enhancer. But I've been suffering from anxiety and panic attacks lately for no reason and everything is just fine in my lifestyle. For example, when I get heart palpitations and I can clearly feel my heart beat, right away I think the worse. My brain is telling me and the body that I'm sick, that I have a heart disease, all kinds of psychiatric nonsense and this triggers my panic attacks. I sometimes have a bad dream, only to wake up with panic attacks thinking I will have a heart attack, this and that it's scary.

Last night I woke up because I felt my heart pounding and pounding for no reason so as I started to worry really bad heartburn kicked in. Right away my brain signal sends me a warning thinking I'm about to have a heart attack. I got dressed up, wanted to go to E.R but somehow calmed myself down, watched tv and went back to bed around 1:30AM. That's why 5-HTP might not do the trick. I think my seratonin levels are fine, maybe dopamine is a little messed up but whatever. I was hoping that my doctor will give me some low dose of xanax or clorazpam but all of them are benzos and could be addictive. Apparently PRAXIL treats anxiety/panick attacks, it's also an anti-depressant, helps people with ED, COD, and other disorders. So we'll see how I respond.

Do you have a family history of heart disease? I'm anxious to see what the 24 hour heart monitor will say. Hopefully if it is negative or without abnormalities that will also help with your other symptoms of anxiousness, etc.

No, Mck.. my family has been fine with no heart disease traces...not that I know of. Usually, the EKG/ECG test would of said a lot of things if there was something wrong with my heart. But I'll see what kind of results I get with the holster monitor.

I don't smoke and I'm trying to limit my caffeine intake because it triggers my breathing while I'm battling with these anxieties at the moment. Hope everything works out for your wife. While these symptoms can be scary they are more annoying that anything.

IMO, it sounds like to me your anxiety is linked directly to "not knowing" what is going on with your heart. If this is the case, a diagnosis of your condition and knowledge of what is going on would probably help the most with the anxiety.
