Don't buy brother printers!!

Like the topic says, DON'T BUY BROTHER PRINTERS!!! They are garbage and are setup to use color ink regardless if you print color pictures or not. So basically if you set your printer settings to greyscale (print in black & white only) it will still use up all your color ink. Now here's where it gets fun......

Once the printer uses up all of the color ink (even though I've printed zero color pics), I can no longer print anything. That's right, they have it set so when any color runs out the printer shuts down. So what the problem with this is they are forcing the consumer to buy ink even if they don't use it. They have these machines set up to use up the colors that you don't use, so then regardless you are forced to purchase more of it because you can't bypass the color to only make the machine print in black & white.

Even set to greyscale it still won't work because it says "Out of color"!! I called the company and they said when any color is out the machine doesn't work. They said it doesn't matter if you try to only print in black & white, it still won't work without the color!

What a crap machine & deceptive company! My Lexmark never did that. When your out of color, everything printed in black & white. F@*K brother! I'll never buy their ****ty products again!!!!!!

Their fax machines do the same damn thing! I have one and it pisses me off because I have it set to only use 'black' for printing and yet it still uses color. I can not get it to stop doing that. So, when one color runs out, it won't print anything. So, I got a copy of WinFax from one of my bros and I don't have to worry about it anymore because the faxes go straight to my pc. As far as printers go, I like Epson. Over the past 5 years, I've used them for appraisal work (which requires a lot of printing) and I'm pleased with them. They will get clogged up if you don't run the cleaning thing on a regular basis. Once one of the colors get's clogged, that's it. That's the one down side with them. However, the upside is great. When my last one would no longer print in blue, they upgraded me to the next higher model for only $50. It was a $150 printer. They sent it to me with a stamped return box for my old one, they sent me all new inks for it and I sent them my unuesed inks and they replaced them with ones for the one for free. I'm looking into the newer version that will print up to 37 ppm in black and 23 ppm in color. It's the fastest Ink Jet on the market right now. Also, if you run out of a color, it will still print, you just won't get that color in the image. And, all the colors are individual cartridges, so you don't have to go buy and whole multi-color cartridge for just one color.

I was wondering why in the hell different colors keep running out. I bought a Brother All-in-One about a year ago and was pretty happy with it but that explains why it keeps running out of yellow and magenta and shyt. I've never had it not print because of being out of color though. The yellow has been down to pretty much nothing for the past couple months and it's still printing. I decided a while back that I would never buy Brother again because the first page of each print session is blury lately. If I print just a single page, I have to print it twice to get a clear print...that's annoying.

I was looking at some HPs the other day as well. That's what I'm sticking with from now on. Ya can't go wrong with an HP printer.

I have an HP all-in-one and haven't had any problems to speak of. It will keep telling you your low on ink but you just click "o.k." and it keeps on printing.

I have used HP and Epson and have not had any problems with either
of them. I try to find the ones that have each color in sa seperate cartridge,
that way you only have to replace the one that is needed. I used to use the ones that could be refilled at home, but that can become very messy in a hurry.

That might be why my Brother is still printing, because it has separate cartridges. I thought that's how all of them are for the last several years.

use hp!! i had the same prob! i switched all the printers out at the dealership with hp, and NO probs! thats all i use now
