i have wondered the same myself, i am a huge horror movie fan, and as much as I want to believe that watching horror and action movies does not have any affect on society, when things like this happen it is difficult to argue against the point. however, you never hear of people who are creative and write or direct horror movies or actually design violent video games becoming serial killers or school shooters. It always seems to be kids that have no creative outlet and isolate themselves from society, turning their aggression inward instead of finding a medium in which to express their anger.
