Well, I'm thinking about getting a dvd player other than my XBox but if I can burn recordings off of my dvr onto a dvd - I'll just go ahead and get a dvd writer with it.

What kind of writer do you have?

yep that is what I got, I think I paid like 150 buck for one from costco works like a charm. My Xbox craps out on me when I want to watch a movie on it, maybe b/c its over 5 years old LOL. If you have a costco near you they always have them on sale and not expensive at all.
