Any Step parents here?

Have you ever had any probs with the child's other parent? It was a little while back but my boy's dad and I had a some words. He had been makin some pretty fukked up choices concerning his kid and it was making J.T. very upset, depressed about it, crying etc... and my wife was getting really upset which pissed me off that much more. Well, at first I just let it go, cause I figured it would just cause more problems if I got involved cause I tend to go a bit overboard at times. Letting things like this go just isn't my style, and ate at me like you wouldn't believe, I couldn't stop thinkin about it! So anyway the last time he came home from his weekend over there and started cryin right off the bat, then my wife starts cryin cause ya know her kid is really hurtin. Well, I call Mr. Dumbfukk and started the conversation right off with "next time I see you, your ass is goin to the hospital"! To make a long story short the guy is the biggest puss I've ever seen in my damn life. I was steady talkin shiot and this b!tch starts cryin and appologizin to me! He even thanks me for carin about his son. This fukktard is about 6'2" or so and around 250-260, I'm 5'6" or so on a good day and am usually around 180. Anywho, it's all done with now and he's changed up his act and is nothin but nice to me, lol. Don't know why but I was just thinkin about this today and thought I'd share.

my oldest is my step son...me and my wife have been together since he was about 22mo's or so....his dad is actually a friend of mine (didnt know him before) so i cant relate. when i have a prob. with something he's done, i just call him on it and vise versa. the boy is 18 now, and the last 4-5 yrs i havnt really said more than 3 words to his dad, but there never was bad blood. i've seen others go through that, and about a yr into the relationship, i called him up and asked him to go get some wings and a couple beers with me...we talked about the fact that he was his dad and had certain responcibilities and that i'm obviously gonna have influence over mike, so we better keep communication line open and get along...

That's def. the best way to go. I think everything's cool now cause like I said he couldn't be nicer and hopefully things will stay that way.

hopefully...the thing i most wanted to avoid is mike seeing us NOT united in our parenting...we had differences in opinions, but we handled them in private, away from his little ears. we never, ever bashed on eachother. i had to call him a couple times and tell him i didnt think he was handling something the right way, but i did it tactfully and over a couple beers. he usually seen my point of view and things were fine....
