If you are having trouble staying logged in when navigating between forums/topics/etc., you need to reset your session cookie. Go into your browser and delete any cookie for the site them log back in. This should fix the login issue.
Many Southern states have done this, so the pressure keeps building. It really just gives momentum to the ridiculous reparations movement. I agree with you o2: I don't know any slave owners, nor any slaves. No one owes them anything. It is a nice gesture, but that should be where it ends.
If I remember correctly it was the AFRICANS that enslaved the AFRICANS. and the SPANISH who enslaved the INDIANS...both whom are living life a lot better than "bad ol' whitey".
Leaders did what others weren't willing to do, now they enjoy the things that others do not.

u know and the bad thing is that slaves that were sold and put on ships over here. guess who helped catch them put them on the ship and got paid for the ones that they caught, and brought to the shore. the white man did not get off his boat and go slave hunting. some other africans lured them to the cost and sold them to the white american. and the reason black people have such great genetics, is because the one that were not strong and could not produce a healty working slave were killed so there now we have all these wonderful athelits that take it to another level.
I dont think black people people should be mad at americans for buying slaves. I think they should be angry with their african brothers THAT SOLD THEM. It's well known that the spanish and dutch traded goods and currency to the africans, for capturing their tribal neighbors. Dont ***** at me, take it up with Mobutu..
Jipped - totally agree. I do wonder from an African American perspective how they feel about these strings of apologies from the Southern States. I can't know for sure being a white female but how could empty political rhetoric do anything other than actually make an African American living today anything but angry as it is a meaningless gesture.
i actually asked a saleman of mine that a year ago or so..about appoligies and reporations...he said "who give a shyt about appologies, i never knew any family of mine that was a slave...but, if they want to go handing out checks, i'll take it!" then we all laffed....he said it's "those southern brothers that got's issues, thier foked up"....lol
