    DJ,

Bush's response to Katrina was held up due to the slow response from the Governor of Louisianna and the Mayor of New Orleans. Bush advised the governor to declare a state of emergency well before Katrinia struck so agencies would be inplace. A resounding NO was her answer.
The glorious Mayor Nagen did little, if anything at all to help the people of New Orleans. There was a hurricane evacuation policy in place for this type of natural disaster, but the mayor simply "forgot" to enact it. It describes what actions should be taken upto 72 hours inadvance of a hurricane.Once again, nothing or very little was done by the people incharge.
Why were school busses and public transpotation busses left unused and not sent out to evacuate the people? This is just one of the many failings of the LOCAL government that added to the trajedy in New Orleans. None of which were Bush's fault.
How is the president responsible for home owners insurance inflation on coastal states? Any corporation will do what it has to to cut it's losses if it is a continous and repeated loss. After a very active hurricane season and high payouts for losses, you can expect their rates to rise. I thought it was an unwise move of insurance companies to say they would not be insuring any more homes in certain coastal ares due to the expectations of further loss by hurricanaes, but several courts have now ruled that they cannot pull out of these areas.
Major Unemployeement? Lastest report I read, approximately 10 days ago, US unemployeement was at 4.4%. One of the lowest figures ever!!
Evne better than in the Clinton years.
I will not get started on the issue of global warming. Untill the so called purveyors of doom and gloom, etal: Al Gore and others, change their fossil fuel burning ways and not have the "Don't do as I do,but do as I say do" attitude
then I will take it as a serious issue. Can't really become serious over this issue when former VP's,actors and such tell me to stop producing a carbon foot print when they are 1000 times worse than I am.
Example: Just one of Al Gore's four, thats right, count them four houses uses more energy in one month thatn my house will in a year. John travolta flying his personal jets all over the world, Madonna and her 19 truck convoy for her concerts, and lets not forget the newest member of this "green" group, Leonardo DiCaprio. How has been overheard arguing with reporters when asked about his traveling and globe hopping and what he is doing to lessen his carbon foot print.
But I think the biggest fluke came out about 2 weeks ago, when it was discovered that a vast majority of the companies the were selling "carbon credits" were a scam job. It was discovered that some of the things that they were saying the were doing had already been mandated by the government or they were doing nothing at all.
Finally, lest not forget that in the late 1970's , we were warned about global cooling and in 10 years there would be another ice age.
The climate of the earth runs in cycles, always has and always will.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't do conservation to protect our planet for all people, just don't make it out to be a do or die choice.

I remember a few years ago there were major blackouts in California that were all over the news. I forgot the whole story but it was somehow tied into corporate scandal with one of those major companies that are under endictment now. Worldcom, Tyco one of those companies. I don't remember anymore.

That's why we have to vote for Ron Paul. He's a Republican that actually doesn't have his head up his asss. He will be the first Republican I'll have ever voted for!

    I love you too daved!

No it wasn't okay Clinton was doing it. I actuallly slammed Clinton about that in previous threads. However It is far more bold, and stupid to come right out and let everyone know that the government is going to violate their constitutional rights and there is nothing we as citizens can do about it. According to Bush he actually said the constitution is a "200 year old piece of paper"!!!

The sad part is less than half of america questions why the government thinks it controls it's people! It's supposed to be people have control of their government not vice versa!

Basically it's like a criminal bragging about his crimes in front of the cops, and even going as far as to hand them evidence, but the cops just ignore it and act as if they saw or heard nothing. That's what's going on in this country. Bush is getting away with the worst crimes against our constitution any president ever has in history and people still have the audacity to stick up for him. It absolutely blows my mind!

Last the Rolling blackouts occured in the West coast during the Bush administration. I'm 99% positive that wasn't an issue pre Bush. That was all tied in with those giant corps Tyco, Worldcom etc etc.

carter only has the attention of the media for what he's done since being prez. he was a lame duck! he couldnt do anything, right or wrong!!

but, since his prez. has ended, i'm sure all will agree, he's done alot for the people of this country (mainly the needy). i respect the man for that....and that only.
as far as what he said...who care's..they both suck as prez.

I remember rolling black outs in Cali when Regan was president. Prisioners are suppose to have rights under the geneva convention but all countries have their special tactics to get information that probably goes way beyond what was is suppose to be.

The big problem is that some how information is leaking about their tactics and soldiers are allowed to have phones that have cameras which should not be allowed. For some reason a lot of things that used to be hush hush is now out in the open.

Bush's patriot act just made it more visible what the government has been doing for a long time, not saying I agree with it. It seems like now bush flauts the fact that he can take away our rights that are suppose to be guaranteed to us.

#6 maybe I am reading it wrong but I am pretty sure the number is not at a million...yet

not the millions..but iraqi civilian death toll is over 600k thats just unnaceptable..one of the major reasons why the middle east hates us. we try to police the world and kill innocent people in the process.
