I don`t know the guy but to play devils advocate. I`m sure that if we checked the history of every street name in use to day we`d find some people with some seedy pasts. Custer was racist against indians but surely there is a Custer street somewhere in Texas (for example).

From what I understand he pretty much hated anyone who wasn't black. He claimed that Koreans were racist, and led a boycott of Korean owned stores in NY because one was apparently rude to a black kid. He and the other protesters held signs that read ""Don't Shop With People Who Don't Look Like Us."
He did some time for kidnapping and attempted murder, but supposedly turned himself around. He was once accused of being an anti semite but responded by saying he's anti-white and not to limit his "anti" to just one group.
Hey, I got an idea for some street names! What do you guys think about Farrakhan Blvd, David Duke Dr., ****** Rd. or Genocide Lane?

The street naming is interesting somehow I sense that must be politically motivated and wonder whose interests it serves and who they are trying to pacify or garner favor with
I get what you're sayin about comin up in the Civil Rights era, it would certainly cause someone on the receiving end of that time to harvest ill feelings towards non blacks. However does it excuse his racist comments 30+ years after that fact? Older = wiser, correct? Interesting that you mention also that you sense it was politically motivated, from what I've read/heard the Black Panthers (I didn't eve know that they were still around, lol) were putting a ton of pressure on some folks to make the change.
