My day just went from pissed off to very happy....

I ordered a lens for my SLR camera on Monday and I had not received any kind of shipping info yet. So, I called up pretty pissed off and told the manager of the site that it's ridiculous they can't get an order filled in 3 days when the item is in stock. He appologized up and down and said 'hey, let me make it up to you. I have a higher version of the lens you bought and if you want to upgrade, I'll do it for only $50. I don't have control over a lot but I have the power to do this. You want it?"

So, I researched it online while we were talking and sure enough, the lens he gave me is a $500 lens And the one I was getting was $289. Then, he said he would give me a 5 year warranty for nothing and they sell that for $150. So, I ended up getting $650 worth of stuff for $339.

It pays to ***** from time to time.

it only pays off if they send it soon. I got an email this evening saying my order will go out as soon as possible. It was from the manager, but we will see. Until the better lens is in my hand, it's really not a done deal. LOL, but I'm optimistic, so we will see.

Cool. Nobody gives me anything when I complain, they just transfer me to 5 different people and have me wait on hold for 20 minutes between each transfer.

Good job bro. I imagine your complaint call was done matter of factly not offensively which is why the manager felt inclined to hook you up.

Well, it came as expected but it actually came yesterday which was one day sooner than expected. The lens is in fact the higher one. I typed in the model and the list price is in the $700's but most retailers have it for around $400. Some do it have in the upper $400's but most are closer to $400 and low $400's. The warranty is the $150 7 year warranty and I got that for nothing. On top of that they sent if overnight shipping for no extra charge. Still a good deal, not quit as goos as he pitched it but the overnight shipping made up for a lot. That would have cost 'me' $40 to $50 to send overnight.

So, I'm happy. I was plying with it yesterday and there was this van down the street and I took a shot at 28mm and then zoomed all the way to 300mm and I could make out the license plate numbers. It's pretty cool. Now I am ready for the beach....lol.
