It gets worse, tomorrow may 1st the mexicans are going to march against the country's immigration laws... believe me when I tell you that not only do you have to press one for spanish and two for english but all the big department stores in southern california are redoing all their signs and directories in the stores to be 50/50 english and spanish... when has this country ever gone out of their way for any other ethnic group like we have for the mexicans... it is totally uncalled for!
Of course the percentage of Latino immigrants is high, but thats only because the opportunity to get here is easier than say a German......Over here in Chicago there are a lot of Polish, German, and other immigrants that will be marching as well......Latinos aren't the only immigrants that face these problems.

Bro, the big difference is Illegal vs. legal immigration. The marchers here in Los Angeles are 99.9% border hopping illegal immigrants that expect us to take care of them since they are alread in the country, and might I add that they decided not to wait in line like the European immigrants have but to cut in front of everyone else.
senate immigration bill (these are only the portions that deal with people already here)
Policy affecting immigrants
• Allows illegal immigrants who have been in the country five years or more to remain, continue working, and eventually become legal permanent residents and citizens after paying at least $3,250 in fines and fees, paying back taxes, and learning English.
• Requires illegal immigrants in the United States between two and five years to go to a point of entry at the border and file an application to return.
• Requires those in the country less than two years to leave.
• Illegal immigrants convicted of a felony or three misdemeanors would be deported no matter how long they have been in the United States.
• Creates a special guest-worker program for an estimated 1.5 million immigrant farm workers, who could also earn legal permanent residency.
• Increases the number of H1-B visas for skilled workers from 65,000 to 115,000 annually, beginning in 2007. Immigrants with certain advanced degrees would not be subject to the caps, which could rise by 20 percent depending on labor market demands.
• Provides 200,000 new temporary guest-worker visas a year.
house immigration bill

• Makes a drunken driving conviction a deportable offense.
either way they are steps in the right direction. (even if one passes the twounfortunately our gov puts things off until they are monumental problems. this couold have been nipped in the bud 15 years ago and the gov forsaw it but did nothing
the house and the senate will never agree and it will be put off again.
