Because Sharpton and Jackson are clearly racists. And Snoop claims he is an "Artist" and is allowed to say these slang words. Speaking from someone who gets arrested several times for possession of drugs and a gun.
Yeah what a joke. A known member of the Crips who was also accused of murder...
The 'Reverend' Jackson had an illegitimate child with his secretary. He also made degrading remarks towards Jewish people in the past, and no one called for his head. He's allowed to apologize and carry on with his career, but Imus (and what he said was clearly in a joking manner) isn't allowed to. It wasn't enough that he apologized, they weren't going to be satisfied until they had his head on a platter.
yea, the whole things a friggin joke...i hope he ends up on subscription radio with a big fat contract saying "thank you rev. sharpton!!"...even though i cant stand the guy, i would love to hear that news!!
HE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!
ok, here's my take. some of you know im the first to stand up for minorities (i am a rican). however, this is bull****. i do agree the comment was in bad taste and he should pay for it. but these jokesters sharpton and jackson need to police their own first before they come attacking.
for example, the number 1 song on the billboards for the last couple of weeks, "This is why I'm hot" by Mims. The song calls their own *****es and ho's. Why is it ok for him to say it, capitalize and commercialize on the same exact sexism and racism they're fighting Imus for? it is bull****. i loose respect for their entire black racial movement when its clear that these stunts are just a marketing ploy for these politicians.
It`s a tough call. Yeah, ganster rappers say "ho" all the time. It`s like the word Nigger, 50 years ago that was a REALLY bad word. Now it gets used so much, it has lost it`s power. Is "ho" any different? I don`t think so.
BUT
Unless you buy the record or listen to a radio station that plays that, you`ll never have to hear it.
This was a national public broadcast of a NCAA game. Different venue.
He also implied that they were ugly, I don`t care what words he used - that`s just rude and doesn`t belong in sports.
Example.
Snoop Dogg says "what up *****" in a song, no big deal.
Snoop Dogg says "what up *****" to Katie Curric on Good Morning America and he`s never on national TV again.
I agree, different venue, but we're talking two different audience. I'm sure the percentage of african americans that listen to the show are in the single digits, while this music is much more impressionable on the demographics we're saying these comments by Imus affect.
It's a crock of shiot. It's such a double standard and really pisses me off how any minority group is allowed to say whatever but God forbid a white person does it. Same goes for religion, if any group was being attacked the way that Chrisitanity is, there'd be so much shiot hitting the fan noone would be safe from the flying peanuts.

Kite brotha I feel your pain, because your right it isn`t fair. They use the "n" word and it`s cool. If I use it I get called a clansman.
But don`t forget he was being broadcast nationally when he put down a group of student (not pro) athletes. Forget, white or black and just think about weather or not negative statments like that belong in a sports commentary.
I mean Larry Byrd is one UGLY mo-fo but did it ever come up? No, because he had mad game and that is what mattered at the end of the game - the scoreboard. Imagine even a worlds strongest man comp commentary guy saying "Yes Hans Yorgensen is one fat no-hair strudel eating prostitute"
It just doesn`t belong, it`s got nothing to do with the game.

Oh deffinately, he shouldn't have said it and should have been fined or suspended but it being blown up the way that it is is just plain rediculous. In the immortal words of Rodney King: "Can't we all just get a bong?" or was it "get along?" either way works out for everyone, lol!

nigger (i dont even like to type that shyt) has LOST its power? where you living?? come with me down to john r and brush and yell that out one time!! we'll see if it's lost anything....snoop dogg saying what up biotch to katie curic i dont think would be the problem you think it is...it's double standards pure and simple. and yes...saying someone is ugly is rude...but not worth loosing your career over.
also, i thaught he made the remarks when he was on his show, not during a national ncaa broadcast, but during HIS show, inwich HIS listners were watching
agreed that it doesnt belong, but that doesnt warrant someone losing their job completely. he apologized and was going to accept a 2 week suspension. thats more than enough. especially after apologizing, and meeting w/ the basketball team to personally apologize.
Ya know what, that's something else that irritates me. Why would those athletes even want an appology? Do they really think it's sincere? He's only doing it for the same reason he did Sharpton's show, to salvage what he can of his career. The whole thing is just grade school bullsh!t!
at the end of the day, its all about advertising dollars folks
Well said.
Hell, the only reason it`s getting airplay on the news is because people are interested to watch it... which means that those same people stay tuned when CNN goes to commercial.. It doesn`t make the news because it`s more news worthy than say the Iraq war, it makes the news because we watch it and will stay tuned during commercial.
