i live close to O2B and there is no problem here getting one for protection. Check with neighboring states because some have an agreement that you can use one in the next state as well and the other states might not give you a problem.
I live in N.J. I am about to apply for a license to carry a concealed handgun. I called the local P.D. and got some details. They asked me what the reason was for wanting to carry a handgun, which is for personal protection. I was told that it will DEFINITELY be declined. They said if I worked for an armored car company it would be ok but to get one just for personal protection just isn't enough. Does anyone else have experience with this? Any ideas on what else I could say?
TELL THEM YOU WORK FOR A SMALL BUSSINESS (I.E. AUTO GARAGE, ETC.) AND THAT YOU MAKE NIGHT ACSH BANK DEPOSITS LATE AT NIGHT. SHOULD NOT BE APROBLEM
I have class A FID Card.. in Boston, MA class A is the hardest one to get...you can carry it all the time with you..legally it must be hidden.. I got it cause I worked for a security company... and I wasn't even an armed security officer.. your criminal record must be CLEAN AND PERFECT..no speeding tickets.. you must be an angel lol.. I carry my 9MM GLock with me all the time... so either get hired for a security company part time.. just so you can present the PD with the documents.. etc
We have a second home in New Jersey. I am licensed here in PA. When I want to bring my gun to the Jersey home, I need to unload it, case it, keep the bullets in the front, and the gun in the back. AND NO HOLLOW POINTS! If you just watch the Sopranos, you know that hollow points are illegal in Jersey.
However, to get a permit, tell the sherriffs office you work with a lot of cash and expensive items. Tell them you work PT for your brother in law, the jeweler. You make deposits for him and bring jewelry home for him sometimes. That will get you an approval.

i got arrested in nj for carrian a concealed weapon (it was in my gloveconpartment, but basicly took apart). i think, from that experiance, that the state of nj is probobly one of the hardest to get a ccw licence. i got lucky to get a cop, and a judge that felt sorry for my 23yr old, narrow azz!! i was looking at real jail time! looking back at it, i was 23yr old, long haired punk, driving a 30k customized 1ton van with a 25k harley in the back, with fla licence plates!! wtf was i thinking! lol
