i personally think that parents are the cause for the state of our youth right now...every generation say's to theirselves..."i want my kids to have it better than i..." it's gotten soooo much better for our youth that they take it all for granted. we've (speaking for parents in general) have given, given, given and we raised a generation of takers! i dont see it as bad (personal observation) with the younger group...like the kids in that 12 and under age bracket, maybe tuff economic times over the last 4 or 5 years has something to do with putting it back in check...i dont know. but, it seems to me, that 13 all the way to 21 age bracket feels they are owed the world...like it's our obligation (parents) to give, give, give some more! i see it with my own kids, and as hard as i've told myself "that aint happening to my kids" low and behold, my 17yr old is a taker....man, is he a taker. now that things have gotten tight he displays signs (through body language, actions) that he's somehow being cheated...i'm truly scared for the boy...he has no ideal what is comming....he's gonna be moving out eventually, (15 min's ago would be fine by me, lol) and even the very, very basic skills for survival, he is really lacking. cannot cook...not even nuke! cannot do wash. cannot clean. dont understand bill paying and has no clue of a value of a dollar. my failure as a dad...our failure as parents.
it wont happen with my young one's...(so i say...)
