I'M NOT GETTING VISTA AND MY COMPUTER IS A 2000. THIS TYPE OF COMPUTER THAT DELL HAS CAN ONLY GET 512 TOTAL. I WASNT SURE AND CALLED DELL.I'M STILL GOING TO GET A NEW COMPUTER BUT I DONT KNOW IF I'M GOING WITH DELL OR HAVING A GUY BUILD ME ONE. totally agreed, vista is garbage.....xp pro is the way to go.i wouldnt dare touch vista. uses WAY to much memory and complete **** from everyone i've spoken to about it. xp pro is the best there is IMO. 512mb of ram is more than enough, even if you're a gamer.

the amount of ram you have has little to no effect on page load speeds. all depends on your connection and the server your pulling from......i would have killed myself trying view web pages at 512.. I am so impatient :/Comment

I upgraded both of my desktop systems from 256 to 512 and it made quite a difference. My lappy has 1G and sometimes leaves both of them in the dust....
