Of course with 2 million I dont know how far I could go with a family of 5.

If you are smart you can make it work, but $2M won't go far. Just divide by your annual salary that you are living off of now and see how many years it will last. I'd keep my day job, but put it in some long term investments and cash it out when it's time for me to retire which won't be for another 40 years. $2M compounded with interest for 40 years is a lot of cash!NO PAIN, NO GAIN

i would continue to work i like my job and i could stay in the same house, i like it here too.
invested properly the interest could supplement my income and the principal would allow me to retire at 50 with a full retirement package from work.

It depends on how high on the hog you live. There's people that win $300 million who are broke now. If you still live the way you do now, people should be fine. However, the NORMAL person goes on a spending spree first, then after they blow through several hundreds of thousands of dollars, they realize they phuqued up. If you can find me a guaranteed 10% account, let me know. However, you are correct. If you live normally, you can get 5% interest in a money market, which is $100,000 a year. Some people can do that.
