deep sea fishing

anyone here do any deep sea fishing in San Diego or even futher south on the west coast? I think I want to go catch me a big fish for my 30th b-day in June. Any help would be appreciated!

i have only been on the east coast as well. If you have the loot, a private charter will be 1000x more fun than one of those big boats that holds hundreds of people.

I went for Chinook on my birthday. I was the only one landing'em, I caught six (two limit) here. one went on the grill and the other on the smoker. I had a blast ! what are you fishing for tuna ? rockfish ? bring saltines jus incase

ok mtnmedic don't be a tease give me some info! I don't know what I'm fishing for I just want to go catch something big. I used to live in Alaska when I was a kid and I was used to catching fish bigger than me (back then), the trout stuff is old I want some fun!

Depends on the season and how much money ya got.(sly grin). for rock fishing,..Lingcod are big'n tasty fish with lots of sharp teeth. or Mako's,..they have lots of sharp teeth too. for tuna you're looking at 40 or so miles out to sea,..no sharp teeth.

w/out a doubt I allways see the party boats with 100+ ppl on them all right next to each other pretty dumb IMO

call up and try to get a private charter out there they have them i have seen them the big party boats suck you will probably catch fish but not what your wanting. when you call the charter up tell them you want to catch something big. the great whites are running on the west coast i know that and you will never catch anything like a shark whether it's a great white or not.

I was a deck hand on a private charter boat down in Gulf Shores for about a year. Not sure if the seasons or regulations out west are concurrent with the ones that we have here though.

Depending on whether or not you get a 6 pack boat or have alot of people and get a 12 pack boat will determine the price. Expect to pay a 15% gratuity to the deckhands for baiting hooks and gaffing fish and cleaning usually runs around .30 cents per pound if you want to keep and eat what you caught. Here is a link to the boat that I used to work on which is a 6 pack boat just to give you an idea of what it cost's. You can find cheaper charters depending on what type of fish you want to catch and if you just want to stay in the bay and fish and not offshore. LMK if you want any more info.
