1. less than 11 letters, ie, easier too remember
2. the name if possible, should evoke some type of deep emotion with the product, ie, makes it more memorable
3. don't discount what the name will mean in 5-10 years, and where it might possibly go
like auto-nation and carmax, part of there naming had to do with opening up new dealers nationwide they would have little to no problem with the name
if i was going to try for a name would need to know more about the biz plan, ie, what are folks really really buying from you and where would your profit be coming from
all american motors is a tad generic, thus kind of forgetable
red white & blue motors, evokes the flag, and we know the flag is probably the most emotional symbol we have, plus it gives you color scheme for marketing, and set of company values to stand by that are implied by the name
if you like all american motors, i'd look at maybe, all american cars, it's more direct and you'd have thousands of detroiters saying it in general as opposed to motors, like who call there car a motor?
you're selling used cars, and everyone always says they want a good one, no more, no less
i would think 70% of your traffic will come from driving by and 30% adds in newspapers, so look thru the adds and see if any names jump our or are memorable

well...goode is gone in all forms. good, goode, autosales, usedcars, motors...all done already. 30% of my traffic will be drive by (if that). 50% will be internet related. 20% referall and prvious customer and print ads.
i will be tageting 2nd car owners. cash car customers and extremly poor credit.
i thaught the red, white and blue could apply to All American Autosales (motors, auto's, whatever) you made some great point trip...anyother thaught's knowing what i'm selling and tageting?
most auto's sold will be under 12k (mostly suv, trucks) and under 8k for cars.
anybody on thier job

i'd try and find 6 or more folks that bought through the internet, and i'd interview them extensively
i have looked thru inet stuff, and did go too one dealer, and of course it was total BS, yeah, they had the vehicle never intended too sell it, so i was obviously pissed
off top of head, i'd think customer wants price and easy
Maybe like, Daves Easy Deals etc.
my guess is, if from the inet, goal is to get them in the door, thus, if the whole process is extremely easy for folks, when they get their, it should almost be, again easy, look, drive, sign
my problem is i really don't know the clientel that well, so hard to see it from their point of view, so, all in all, just trust yourself, and go with the gut

in my last 2 positions, i took internet sales to up and over 50% (with 1 very well payed internet sales guy, who is chomping at the bit for me to get this going)...the trick is, there is no trick! the unit i list is for sale, at that price! the costumer will be treated as well as anyother customer, all sales are first come first serve, i do not "hold " vehicles. i hit autotrader.com., cars.com and ebay. i will run limited print dedicated towards very poor credit. i have a lender on hand that if you've been on your job 6mo, are w2 employee, have 500$ down, and are breathing, you are a driver! you make monthly notes, and there's an automatic shut off device placed on the car, that if you are 3 days late, when you turn off your car, it will not start! they do report to credit bueru's and it is a 12-18mo lease. this lender will only sign 1 dealer per zone (witch is per city) so, i'll capture that customer 100%.
i thaught i could go with the red white and blue thing with that name. i also thaught the name would inspire emotion (the whole red white and blue thing) i figured it'd be pretty easy to remember (all american ford has been shut down for 5 yrs and people still ask where they are located) and i was playing on the name recognition thing.
also, i've sold 20-25 cars a month (most months) from internet leads for over the last 3-4 years. i have talked to many customers...not being nasty, i know your not familiar with me personally. i've found alot have stories like yours...dealers ran "loss leaders" or the unit was "sold, but here's one like it for slightly more"...yada, yada, yada....i dont play that
IF YOU SELL FORDS MAKE THEOSE LETTERS BIGGER IN YOUR SIGN F O R D

i got you man, was the place you were with a very well known name, name brand in the area?
i think i see what you're sayin, with how you advertise, you have to like any sales issue, respond to folks immediately, etc. so the dedicated inet sales guy makes sense
oh, what were the reasons those folks bought from you and why?

the dealer i was with was known pretty well. and, the owners of my store owned all american ford, so people respected us right away. (alot to play on!!)
reasons for purchasing from us...(always keep logs, lol)
#1 prompt service. we answered the phone, they didnt have to wait for a call back, and if a question was asked that couldnt be answered right then, we got back to them very quickly.
#2 unit was what they wanted, and we explained it as it was.
#3 felt very comphy doing biz with us
#4 price...(believe it or not, we arent always the cheapest, but we are always the best!)
#5 previouse dealings with us, used the net just to check out our inventory.
on secondary customers (poor credit)
#1 reason they baught from us, was becouse we treated them like a customer...
took me awhile to understand what that meant...how do you not treat a person buying a car from you like a customer. then, i found out, most dealers look down at secondary customers..like they are bad or not worthy of their time!! they do require more work, but the money is still green!! i dont get how some of these dealers think!! that's why i think i'll smack 'em around a little, lol..
these customers are the best ones to have!! they know they have credit issues, they dont need you rubbing their face in it. they are usualy hard working people, good people, that fell on hard times!! if you take care of them, they will, honestly, scream your name to everyone they know!!! no better advertizing out there!
