Re: new car time 2007 jetta GLI
Wow dude 24k for a Jetta! That's pretty steep! Some honest advice is first off get something almost brand new but used. New cars are a horrible investment as they immediately lose a lot of money in value the minute you drive off the lot.
Second for 24k you can pick up a whole slew of really nice, dependable, low mileage (10k miles) cars for that price or under.
Third Volkswagen gets horrible reviews from consumer reports.
Seriously you can pick up an RX8, 350Z, WRX, WRX STI, EVO 8, Volvo S40 or S60, Chrysler 300C I mean the options are endless at that pricetag! Unless it's a car you've been dying to get, I would seriously reconsider before you make an impulse buy. Go try out a few other cars and see if that Jetta is still on your mind. If it is then you know that is the right car for you.
I hope this helps bro.

Re: new car time 2007 jetta GLI
As everyone else said 24k for a Jetta is too much. Definitely look for something semi-new like DJ sugested. I've read too many bad consumer reviews and one of my friends had one and hated it. If you want something 4 doors with a turbo then a used Subaru WRX Sti or Mitsubishi EVO is the way to go. If you don't care for a turbo then an Acura TSX is nice or Lexus IS300.

Re: new car time 2007 jetta GLI
i know if you get one with all the equipment (leather, roof, ect.) they hold their resale value pretty well, but that does seem a little stiff. are you leasing or purchasing. if purchasing, a low mile used (even 07 demo) would be way more bennificial to you...but, they are a nice car. goodluck broHE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!

IMO wrx's and evo are just ugly. They are fast from the factory, great. But they look like cracker jack toys. They look very young. I hope you are between the ages of 16-19, because you might look that young in either one of those cars. In the price range you mentioned, I am sticking with my choice of a G35 sedan, saw one this weekend and it was just wonderful. Bet you sell a wrx or evo after a year.

if you buy a new car get an invoice printout off the internet and take it in with you to negotiate. That way they know you know about what they can really sell it for and they cant jack you around all day.

Re: new car time 2007 jetta GLI
this is from consumer reports:
Least reliable
Vehicles listed in scoring order, starting with the worst score.
SMALL CARS: Chevrolet Cobalt, Nissan Sentra (2006), Volkswagen Jetta (5-cyl.), Chevrolet Aveo.
FAMILY CARS: Volkswagen Passat (4-cyl.)*
for class as well as long term value i say the acura TSX. they hold their value better almost all of its competition and its reliability is only rivaled by other honda and toyota products
