Jipped,
What issues with the 04's- and 05's are you talking about. Something major or minor???
Thanks fella's
it was the first years of the 6.0ltr engine. they have plenty of bugs....2000-2003 7.3ltr is the way to go, and i promice, you will not be disapointed!

daved is right. it was only on the first year of the 6.0 and i was wrong i think it was around the 2001-2002 years they had probs on a small % of trucks

So either the 6.0L engines in the 2001 or 2002 model's are the ones that had the bugs??

your killing me smalls!! lol.
2000-2003 are 7.3ltr powerstrokes...that is the one you want, hands down. 2004-2005 6.0ltr ford diesel, stay away. 2006 and up, ford diesels are good to go (but, i personally would go with the 08, if i didnt find an 2000-2003 7.3).
just a side note...take a 50k miled, 2003 7.3ltr f-250 x-cab, xlt, powerstroke to the auction. and you'll pull more bids, and more money than a 2004 chevy x-cab with a dura max and 40k miles!!...the diff. will be a couple grand more for the 7.3!! that is the truck that gm was trying to catch.

Yes, and I also heard that in either 08' or 09' the F-150's will have the diesel engine option.

he front ends would go to hell with any decent size diesel...i dont know why anyone would want a half ton diesel anyways....as for the 3 egines...what does eery big rig have in it...straight 6 engines...you wont see v8's...i dony know why the power stroke duramax went with one....stick with the straight 6 cummins and the dodge

I'd have to agree with you on that one. I'm constantly maxing out my Silverado 1500's payload all the time with wood. It sucks because it's a 2 hour round trip to pick it up, and because of the max payload I have to make multiple trips sometime.
They use the straight 6 in class 8 trucks because it developes more torque then a V-8 of the same size and weight. Torque is what makes diesels superior not horsepower. A 600hp diesel in a semi makes over 2000 ft lbs of torque from 1400rpm up to 2000rpm
Twin turbos are usually sequential on diesels. Cat has been using the on thier ACERT motors for a few yrs now. The F-450 is prolly gonna be Caterpillar powered the two have been in bed together for a few yrs now.

the front ends will be built for the truck and enough for a plow. the prob. with the dodge is the tranny...ask any wholesale/salesmanager, we've all been jabbed with a 50-60k mile dodge diesel with a tranny drop. there all not gonna drop, but with my luck, mine would, and have!
ask any independant diesel mech. you know, and a vast majority will recomend the 2000-2003 powerstroke 7.3...ford only stopped using them becouse they went with catipiller when the contract was up...a decission that has yet to prove a good one!
