It's funny how we as Americans think we are so progressive, but we are hotly debating the woman as president issue when other countres did it years and years ago.

Thatcher was one of the most effective PMs England ever had, and this was decades ago.

I think Rice would be a great women in there. She has experience with all the leaders of the world and they respect her. I dont see hilary winning at all she has proven that men can walk over here and get away with it(her husband) for a women to be in there I think she needs to strong and indepentant. Obama would be great in there as well, he seems to be where a lot of american are, just sick of all the crap that is going on. Overall I think McCain will come out on top of this election but i am not up to date on his policies. Right now I think I am voting for obama I dont care about race, color, or sex they have to show that they really want to be there and fix the big problems that the last administration has left them with.

What about his islamic ties? You know his father is muslim. I would never consider him for a leader of this country simply because of that.

who is a satanist? No thats no good but our country is built on the idea that we serve a Christian God, that is what our founding fathers believed and should stand. In god we trust, remember that? And yes because they are muslim they cant be our leader. Thats just more of the problems we have, this country for some reason thinks that we should bend to conform to everyone else's beliefs rather than them conform to ours.

Even if Rice were a white man, she/he would have no shot as anyone with Bush ties will have no chance atleast in the forseable future. I believe history will show Bush to be a decent President and not the incompetent, evil mogul the liberal media has made him out to be, but that's down the line. If you have ties with this Bush administration that in and of itself is political suicide right now. Maybe it shouldn't be that way, but that's how it is.

Obama seems 'great' in the eyes of many because they don't know where he stands on many of the issues right now. For the most part, he doesn't have a record, a body of work, that people can pick apart. He's the glamour child of the democratic party because he's young (hip), well educated, and black.

Re: Is the US ready for a Black President

                        well, fwiw

Over xmas at a party and got into the politico discussion, and i was really surprised about the 40 yr. old soccer mom response.

About 1/2 liked hillary and 1/2 did not.

Anyways my point was, I just don't like her, real simple etc. etc.

So, over the last few weeks you got 1/2 the people goin ga ga, and others like me, that go yuck.

So, I was like, hmmmmmmmm, what do they see that I don't.

Without going into a long story, I kind of put myself in her shoes.

I wondered how I would have been percieved if my wife was president, and had cheated on me and did a bunch of other stuff.

And I wondered how I would have reacted if I had been attacked my media republicans for 9 years, etc.

And then it dawned on me, you know, I have really only seen her when she was in a DEFENSIVE mode, ie, defending herself being attacked by pundits whatever, and to be honest, to me she came off as a little shrill.

So, I was like maybe I'm not giving her a chance.

Well, I watched her on msnbc last night, interview with keith olberman, and her response to the speech, which fwiw, I thought bush did a good job, ie, he toned down the fear mongering bs 80%, anyways back to Hillary, and u know what, I gotta say I was impressed, her answers were clear consise and quick as opposed too obama's who kind of meandered.

                        Anyways, I'm rethinking her.

well i do beleive clinton bush and alot of our presidents were satanists, but thats not the point i was trying to make.. Anyone can say they are christian to gain support meanwhile they may not be the least bit christian, just because a man is muslim does not mean he cant run our country. True muslims are supposed to be peaceful people.Judge a man by his character not the god he beleives in-

I think there will be a black man as president long before there will be a female president... Could a woman do a good job as president?? Probably a GREAT job, but I don't think that she will garner the respect that a president should have. As much as I'd like to see what a female pres. could do for our country, I don't think it'll happen in my lifetime. Things are still too old-fashioned, especially in other parts of the world.

doesnt really matter to me as long as hes a good leader for our country. He is christian now and in this time and age it might be good to have a president that has a good understanding of islam imo.

LoL you don't actually think Clinton or Bush were/are satanists? Do you? LoL did you mean atheists? Big difference between a satanist and an atheist...

I'm not a huge Bush fan. In fact, I'm kind of indifferent when it comes to him as far as his policies and leadership are concerned. I think that overall he's been a decent president and history, in time, will prove just that. He's certainly not the most intelligent or articulate president we've ever had, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's been totally incompetent.

The one thing I don't doubt though is his faith. I don't believe it's an act on his part by any means. I think he is a sincere Christian. JMO
