SO MUCH MAIL AND NOT ENOUGH POSTAL WORKERS. I WOULDNT WORRY ABOUT IT. DOES EVERYONE KNOW HOW MUCH MAIL GOES THROUGH A POST OFFICE A DAY. I WORK FOR A MAJOR AIRLINE AND I SEE HOW MUCH MAIL COMES OFF THE PLANES AND GOES TO THE POST OFFICE AT THE AIRPORT

It's only going to be suspected terrorist mail. I mean if something is coming from or going to a terrorist flagged country I'm sure it's going to raise suspicion. The regular susbcriptions to playboy won't be opened! lol!!!

Obviously, it's his way of trying to get to suspected terroist mail. Not that I like it one bit, but imagine it like this...an envelope suspected of having anthrax is opened....they trace down the sender....they arrest him....and low and behold, he get's off scott free because they didn't get a warrant. So, and again this is typical for Bush, he tries to do something that he 'feels' is in the best interest of terrorist things but yet again, he takes away rights or finds some way to dodge the system. I can only assume his intentions are good but the way he goes about it is just stupid. He would have been better off stating his intentions and letting America vote on it. Of course, I don't work for him and I'm not him so who knows if this was even his idea. This idea very well could have come from the FBI, CIA, DEA, NSA or Home Land Security and presented to him as a 'terrorism defense'. Man, the guy (if it wasn't his idea, and I doubt it was) needs to hire someone with some common sense. Seriously, everything he's done lately looks sneaky and shady. Again, I dont' work for him and I'm not him so I have no proof it was his idea, and nether does anyone else. The only people who know and the ones that were in the meeting it was brought up in. It does suck for him because if it's an idea that was thrown at him, it makes him look bad. If it was 'his' idea, then he really needs to get a new staff, one that will give him good advice. Besides, even if he does make it law, the next Dem in office will do away with it. It's a stupid law. I don't see what's so hard about getting a warrant, it's only a damn phone call. Now the PO will be able to open whatever the hell they want and people can't do anything about it. Then things will start becoming missing, then people will start sueing the PO for 'missing' items. This is going to turn into a **** storm. Also, just imagine if you get a 'pak' in the mail and you are driving home and you get stopped by LE. They say 'what's in the package?" You say, "don't know, I don't even recognize the sender." There's really nothing they can do if it's not open. Now, they will be able to 'make' you open it and you will get busted for the contents. That's a bull**** law. Next they won't even need a warrant to enter your house.

well they were talking about in on msnbc this morning and they said that democrats and republicans were highly disturbed by this b/c they did not intend on W to manipulate his power like this...I think it's the "without a warrant" part that bothers them...b/c we as americans do not tend to use common sense when doing things like this...we love to go overboard...there will be a story attached to this in the near future I'm sure...

Again I love how I see so many comments where people are ready and willing to let the government bend them over and take more of their freedoms away. That is a right of privacy. Whomever doesn't like that right including governement officials needs to pack up their balls and leave the country!
