    Re: End of the world

From what I understand it's the claim that the world has undergone three catastrophic events that all but wiped everything out, thus issuing in a "new world" meaning all had to be rebuilt, repopulated, etc... It doesn't refer to all out destruction but rather a drastic worldwide change.

      Re: End of the world

Well I just bought two Nostradamous videos, one made in 1981 and one made in 1991. I'm curious to see if the movies predict what the future holds. Because if it was made in 81 and says there will be a gulf war in the 90's....guess what then we know it's true.

This is going to be pretty cool. I'll let you know if there is anything different I learn.

BTW, I believe there has been a few catastrophic events that have reshaped history!

Well, the middle eastern conflicts are going on right now, and it is said to prolifirate even more conflict, so in that respect it has already started, but from what i have read, there are supposed to be more problems also with nature, like in catistrophic storms and fires. A well known meterologist has already proclaimed a very great natural disaster (within 10yrs), but Bush will not let him comment openly. It must be very bad, because he (Bush) put a manditory silence on this. I have also read that there was something in the last vision that came from Mother Mary to the three children from Madjagoria (sp) in Spain, two sisters and one brother. Only one of the sisters i believe is still living. When this happen i guess the Holy Mother told them not to say anything. It is supposedly so horrific that the children at the time, screamed in voices that were not human like. It is still a much kept secret. I just hope iam already taken b4 the worst becomes reality.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.
          - 2 peter 3:10 (NIV)-

Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.
          - Revelation 3:3 (NIV)-

Im gonna go by that....Revelation is a tough Book of the Bible, Ive studied it and cant grasp whats supposed to be taken literal or not...My only conclusion is when the world is ending we will know and it will end when we least expect it
Im gonna get so big I cant dress myself

I wonder what the mormons think. I was in a mormon family's house yesterday and the pantry was bigger than my master bedroom. There was a fifty gallon drum in the ground full of water with a little pump even. TONS literally of rice and beans and canned goods. This was all in room UNDER the basement. I have heard it is supposed to be for some kind of armageddon type of event. I don't know about that, but I do know where I'm going when my family gets hungry!

that is pretty sensible way to live . in times of plenty you dont think like that but you never know what is around the corner. if you have a big stockpile of provisions you can still use them now , you just use what you need and replace , using the oldest food first. by living like that you can benefit from lower cost bulk purchasing as well. good thinking.

The time of the end is not for us to know...only the Father knows, not even Jesus knows. We are not to concern ourselves with such. only pagans and non believers should worry about the end times. we are told about the end times for non believers. Many believers will go through the tribulation, but as always, when you put your faith in Christ, you win no matter what. Dont fear he who can kill the body, rather, fear him who judges the soul.

Amen... My rule of thumb has always been, if someone tells you they know when the world will end (or when Jesus will return), then you can rest assured that can't be the date (Mark 13:32; Acts 1:7).

Not to change the topic, but say if someone told you they had a premonition that something was going to happen catastrophic and they were livid about it, and you knew the hr and date of this, what would you do? take it with a grain of salt and forget about it, or not take any chances?

                            Re: End of the world

mick-g....read my above post. premonitions about the end of the world are false. I cant speak to other premonitions about mothers who dreamed about their child's death the moment it happened, etc, other things you hear about...but, Jesus said the no one knows the time of the end...only the Father. And remember, a day to Him is 1,000 years and 1,000 years is a day.

It always amazes me the smugness and "intellectualism" exhibited by atheists. If they only realized that we as humans are like a 2-year old to our Father. Our intellectual power is like an anthill compared to Mt Everest compared to God. Jesus speaks of how some hearts are hardened and will not be able to hear the truth...they are blind and quite possibly are lost forever. They are blinded by their own confidence and assuredness in themselves, they trust in the world. Can you imagine thinking that you are totally alone in the universe? What a lonely existence. This omnipotent confidence and self-assurance is the EXACT OPPOSITE from Christian faith in Jesus Christ. We understand the we as human beings have absolutely NO control of our lives, we are weak beings, we cannot help but mess up, always a second away from death; we have put all control and faith in Jesus. See how far the atheist is from Christianity? God only asks ONE THING from us...trust Him, and yet many people cannot do that. To give up control of our lives and work together with God, and allow Him to work through us is true living. Just remember friends, sooner or later, "every knee shall bow". The muslim, hindu, buddhist, atheist, agnostic, "good guy", all other false religions shall bow down and take account of their lives to the Almighty God. Sooner or later, pay day will come.

friend, this is not the way to live, IMO. we are told to look to the birds and animals...they don't store up food, fearful of the future. this worldview is a fearful one....It seems they are essentially saying "I have to look our for myself...only I can protect myself"..trust in God. We are much more valuable to Him than many birds and animals.

All this reminds me of a song we used to sing down in Waco Texas when I lived there with Brother David and my 200 other brothers and sisters. We used to sing it to the beat of "Someones in the kitchen with Dinah".
"My God is better than your God,
                                You Buddhist your a pri*K
My God is better than your God,
Jesus used to heal the sick.
A fee fi, fiddly eye Oh...fee fi fiddly eye oooooohhhhh"
“I don't look ahead... I keep focused on my next opponent. I am looking forward to my next opponent, I don't think past that point.”
