There is a woman I work with who is a very talented artist. She picks very high priced neighborhoods, and mails them brochures that she had made up with some of her paintings in it. She then puts something like "November special: Painting of your home for $800..." Or something like that. Even if they don't want their home done, it opens the doors for other possibilities. I can tell you, I have seen it with my own 2 eyes, she just painted a portrait of a school bulding for $1350. Not a bad nut for a few weeks work as supplimental income. Just a thought.

i use a loss leader to get into alot of my customers..

thanks for the heads up..... i have started a website and made a businesscard / comp card to help promote myself..... maybe a little brochure to leave in rich neighborhoods... advertising Xmas specials woundt be such a bad idea.

im not really mixed up in the AAS world... more here for fitness, so i dont really mind people knowing who i am

im thinking ill make post cards similar to my business card above...

i can have samples on one side... with text on the specials on the other side...

but how does she get them out?? drive through neighborhoods and leave them i n mailboxes?? or mail them all out?

No. As stupid as it sounds, it's a federal offense for someone to leave a flyer in a mailbox. She will do different things like mail them out, and find a few neighborhood kids and pay them $10 each to leave them on peoples doors! She's funny because she'll tell the kids "Here's $2 now. When you're done, I'll give you the other $8. That way I can drive up and down the road and make sure I see them in everyones doors. If I find out you throw them away, you don't get the other $8!"
Truth is, she never really drives to check.

yeah...thats a problem... i live in a college town and the nice areas are way on the outside of town... so that tactic wont work for me... ill have to find another way.

they have a farmers market where i can rent a tent... i might do that soon and just put out a table with my prints to be viewd and try and sell them lose as well as stir up comissioned business.
