The bottom line is there will never be any one person who pleases everyone, it's impossible and so the debate for who is best for this country will never end, ever. What's best for me and my beliefs is not best for someone else.

        Re: Democrats

democrat/republicans= just a tool to divide our country..in a true democracy (for presidency)we would be able to choose from more then 2 people who are filthy rich and have nothing in common with the average citizen..imo as far as the elections for congress, senate and so on..why choose democrat or republican only, do some research and vote based upon their beliefs not based on (r) or (d)...I feel that most people are mixed into the "im a repub, "im a dem" and dont focus on what each politician is about..loyalty to a certain party is pretty dumb .

im all for the beliefs of our founding fathers in todays society and neither dems nor repubs demonstrate what they intended America to be like. They are probably rolling in their graves right now with how much our constitution has been ignored and tweeked..I am a true conservative when it comes to government..I find it funny that people call the repubs today conservative..theyre neocons, not conservatives

on another note we need to get rid of electronic voting ASAP

            Re: Democrats

neither party will please everyone. the repiblicans will help the lareg corperations and busninesses and the dems will be more for the small guys but you can have both being supported by a government to easily. i woudl rather have the democrats in charge instead of the current admin. george bush has destroyed this country and its respect among the world leaders. hell tony blair is contemplating stepping down due to pressure from within his country because he is to good a friend of bushes and sides with him on world issues that nobody else believes in such as the damn iraq war.
the iraq war should never have been started in the first place. at the time they were not the threat bush made them out to be and there is no evidense thay they were supporting terrorists! how many times has bush changed the reason why we started the war anyway? first it was WMD'S then when they didnt find one lick of evidence thay they existed he changed to they are terrorists. there is no evidence of that either so what will his next excuse be? meanwhile thousands of our troops are getting killed and for what reason???? we have created a monster in iraq which will not go away for a long time because there is no good solution to the problems. you cant take a country run by a dictator and make it a democracy and expect it to work. it just doesnt. while the democracy is deciding on what to do the insurgents get stronger & stronger where if there was a dictatorship still in place the insurgents would get squashed. this does not mean i support hussein because i dont as he was a violent man who killed thousands & thousands of innocents but i dont feel this country has any right to invade another country just to change its government to what we think is best for them!!!! every other country in the middle east is a dictatorship so why change just one? it weakens them against all neighbors not just syria & iran.

It's funny you say that because I remember during the last election and when Dem supporters were asked who they wanted in office, many of them would say 'I dont' care, just as long as it's not a Rebulican'. What a dumb ass thing to say. Which is exactly what you are saying...get to know more about your candidate than just the party. One of the things that killed John Kerry was his stand on guns. I saw countless interviews with life long Dem supporters who voted for Bush because they knew he would protect their right to own a gun. I have the most respect for those who voted for what they wanted and not just what party they were for. That's why Bush ultimately won, more people wanted what Bush stood for than what Captain Flip Flop stood for. Hell, my gradfather is a hardcore Dem supporter but he refused to vote for John Kerry because he was so wishy washy and he would change his position on things way too much. He said 'you just can't know for sure what you are getting.'

Speaking of Kerry, did you see his "botched joke" on the news? What an idiot.

it was not a joke, the military has always fought against the idea that the poor, and the uneducated are the only ones that are fit for military duty..

It was an elitist comment that was meant to be a jab at bush..

Kerry would have everyone building bridges, and roads with tax payer money, but only if they wanted to show up for work.. if they wanted to stay home, or do anything else, that's ok to.. so long as they vote..

                      Re: Democrats

I can tell you right now, the military is not full of dumb people. I got a bro who's going for a master's degree so he can get propmoted to Major. Most officers are intelligent and when you get up to teh Generals, those guys are smart as hell. Just look at the technology they come up with, that's not something stupid people come up with. Sure, there are some guys who didn't do good in school and don't have the money to go to college but that's a small percentage of the whole military. The guys and girls in the upper ranks are smart. Now a days you can't even get passed Captain without a college education or some major war time expereince. Both of which will require you to be educated to complete. Dumb people don't graduate college, they just dont'. Well, not with any kind of degree that would advance you in the military. Also, dump people usually don't do great things on the battlefield.

To say the military is a place for the poor and uneducated is just ignorant. There are kids who come from nothing and go into the military and get their doctrine and get out and practice medicine. Doesn't sound like a dumb person to me! There are kids who may not have book smarts but they have common sense and become great military leaders. Did you know that Admiral Nimitz dropped out of school when he was in 8th grade? That's right, but he was actually so smart in common sense that he passed a test to get into Annapolis and later became one of the greatest Admirals in US history.

                          Re: Democrats

part of where this misconception came from is in the 60's and early 70's they ran an experiment, they would accept anyone no matter the level of education, or criminal background, and the judges were more than happy to send them on. The point was to prove that the military could take anyone and make them a productive member of society.

it failed.. this was at the same time when the draft went away, and people still thought that the prison system was for rehab.. that doesn't work either..

That is true. The debate will never end, even when people have a common motiviation but right now we can't even agree on a standard in which to apply to government. The Bible is a standard for some, the Quran for others, Karl Marx for some, pure democracy for many and individual liberty for the smart people The majority of Americans think if you have the numbers behind you, you should be able to apply your idea of government to everyone (pure democracy) and vote away or infringe others individual rights. That is why our country is so polarized, IMO - there is alot to lose, when your opposition is voted in to power.

Democrats vote to infringe what freedoms Republicans support and Republicans vote to infringe freedoms Democrats support. When if we would just stop trying to enforce our beliefs on others and agree: I'll support your individual freedom, if you support mine - we'd all be living free.
