sorry if i offend anyone, but blame the FU*KING treehuggers,enviro fags for all this......PERIOD. We have oil...we have billions of tons of coal that cant be touched becaus it is in sensitive areas......coal that can be made into diesel fuel for way cheap!!!!!!! Because some treehugger doesnt want a damn minnow, or lizzard that has benefited the human race, NOTHING,We cant explore thes oil fields, and other fuel sources, like coal that will benefit all of us and keep money out of these OPEC assholes pockets!!! Me, my dad, my dads dad...we never saw a damn dinosaur, and we have done just fine....I am sure my kids and my kids kids will be just fine also if they never see a Timbuktu lizard!!!! BUT NONE OF US WILL BE FINE FOR LONG PAYING $3 FOR GAS!!!!!

No offense to you by any means pigmeat, but there is good reason why tree huggers protect the environment. Because there are many people out there that don't have the common sense to look into the effects of what they are doing can do to the future of our environment and civilization. (again that's not directly aimed at you so don't take it as an attack because it's not, it's more of a generalization) Sure maybe a lizard means nothing to you, but to the food chain the loss could be absolutely dramatic.

Here's a simple example. Lets say you were going to kill off all bats because they aren't necessary. Well kill off the bats and watch the bug population get even more out of control than it already is. How about bee's they are nothing but an annoyance. Kill of them and who will pollinate flowers, fruits, and make honey?? Everything has a purpose and although it may have no direct effect on you, it does have a role in the grand scheme of things.

Also you say there's no effect to the planet really right?? Well consider this, the dinosaurs disappeared and noone really knows the true reason why. I say it's natural selection. For whatever reason mother nature didn't want dinosaurs so it eradicated them. What's to say that mother nature isn't pissed as all hell at us so now every natural disaster imaginable has gotten bigger, stronger, and more numerous. Freak viruses are coming out trying to rid us of this planet. What's to say that we ourselves are causing our own demise? Sometimes you really need to think out of the box.

Honestly this garbage with OPEC has nothing to do with a shortage of oil. Like someone else already said it's all politics. Our governments are making profits hand and fist by the extra taxes they bring in from the higher prices. Also many of these politicians are dirty and are involved with these companies. I find it amusing that many countries like Russia admit that they have corruption in our government. But then the bulk of Americans are to naive to believe their government can have corruption too. It's that whole it won't happen to us thought process that gets us in trouble over and over again. When people open their eyes and people start rallying everywhere about gas prices and corruption do you honestly think the government wouldn't fix the issues? Of course they would, but while everyone sits like good little girls and boys and do what they're told, the government will take us for fools again and again and again!

If the government put it's full attention into helping fund the affordable production of hydrogen cars, I guarantee that our economy would absolutely soar and our environment would be able to heal itself.

true. And i am not saying just carelessly destroy the envirnment....but things get taken to the extreme by some of thes wilderness aliances. We need to explore these areas, but do it responsibly and with proper reclamation bonds to make sure the land is put back.....

We are setting on approximately 2 trillion barrels of oil here in the U.S
In the mountains of the mid-western states at a depth of approximately 1000 feet, there are tons of shale rock. It can be mined and heated to release the oil that is in the rock.
This was once a very expensive process, but has now be refined to be cost effective to get the oil from the shale.
That would produce enough oil for our country to almost be dependant.
On another note, Saudi Arabia made an announcement today about more reserves being found. I think it was enough to last the world for another 140+
years. But then again, it was in the Middle East.
